Saying that we should eat meat because of the food chain is like saying we shouldn't fly because we weren't born with wings.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, saying that we should eat meat because of the food chain is like saying we should fly because we have airplanes.

[/ QUOTE ]

WTF

[/ QUOTE ]

No, it's like saying "...cats should walk because they have four legs."

[/ QUOTE ]
And no one owns them, so they can walk wherever they please.

Why is it more "advanced" not to eat animals? "Advancing beyond our natural instincts" isn't a reason. You still haven't given a good reason not to.

Here is the thing peope are missing: NEARLY ALL MORALITY IS SUBJECTIVE

If paluka, or anyone else, feels it is morally wrong to eat meat, he is allowed to think that. Just like I am allowed to have no moral problems with it.

Neither of us need to necessarily give reasons for those moral beliefs, nor are those beliefs the business of anyone else.

The only time morality becomes the business of others is when those morals are affecting others (ie. rapists, racists, etc.)

Vegetarians - if you have kids, are you raising them in a strictly vegetarian household, or cooking meat on occasion for them / allowing them to eat it outside of the home?

This thread has beens severely hijacked, but I think that Q-tip needs to grow up and stop being so picky about food and at the same time the people who invited him for dinner are not good hosts. As a host, your goal should be to cater to the needs and desires of your guests. These people were being self-centered.

Don't get all mean on me, Max.

Cooking meat for them seems antithetical to the max.

Paluka,

Also, see LoL's post, since you didn't seem to understand my abbreviated version of the points she made much more articulately.

[/ QUOTE ]

I read her post. The stuff about the treatment of workers is interesting and is somethign I should probably try and become more aware of. The stuff about the food chain and so forth meaningless to me. I don't care about what we were "meant" to do.

P,

You mean the one where you didn't like the fact that I pointed out we are at the top of a food chain?

Anyway, are you gonna be mad at me when I take your kid to Shake Shack for a delicious burger?

[/ QUOTE ]

Honestly, every post you make in this thread makes me think less of you. This is literally the type of thing that former high school failed jocks with a 67 IQ say to make fun of me for not eating meat.
