Yes, unless you win 4.5 million dollars.

[/ QUOTE ]

What does that have to do with anything? Let's go back to Buyin+Fee with no percentage withheld and all tips at the discretion of the players.

Possibly a good point, Mitch.

Do servers ever cost themselves money by assigning a mandatory tip?

When I took a party, I always declined when the front-of-house manager would ask if I wanted 18 percent put on the check. I'll take my chances on performance.

In my case they do - the mandatory tip is almost always lower than what I would have tipped otherwise.

figures. I really cant stand when dealers try to hide there income but continually imply its no where near enough. Wont let the consumer know where they stand, well, the more I don't know where I stand in your world the less money they will receive from mine.

I for one have to give you a lot of credit for continuing to return to this thread (and responding in detail in the other thread - now locked), as it has obviously been a frustrating experience for you.

Having said that, I think there were a lot of things in your earlier posts that were unclear and seemed somewhat contradictory, and I think a lot of people just wanted to get some clarification and make sure they weren't misunderstanding or misrepresenting your position.

I hope you will continue to participate in this thread (and others), engage those who would seek to have a productive discussion, and ignore the rest.

stick,

No doubt they sometimes do, I would just always prefer to take my chances.

Just don't forget when u tip at a dining establishment, that your gratuity is often broken up between server, bartenders and buspersons.

Pkrporcupine i have agrred with some of your posts for sure and i was actually on your side. However if you make 30$ an hour or more and you complain its kind of sad.

I have been a dealer/floor for 13 yrs at Foxwoods. I dealt five straight yrs on the same craps table in the high limit area which was a min 50 with 5 times odds game. Most everynight we had at least 10 players or more on the game at one time and at least 100k on the layout almost every roll for at least 7 of the 8 hours and i never made anywhere close to 30$ an hour. Its highest point was about 22 and im getting paid the same as a poker dealer dealing 4/8 or the one dealing 10$ BJ. There are a lot of factors involved including we pool our tips and the pit tables basically carry poker since either the dealers suck or players dont tip. Now if you think dealing poker is harder then dealing craps then you are sadly mistaken and i think 30$ an hour is plenty.

Until poker is taken out of the toke rate and we get this union started we have one of the lowest paid dealers in the country for the action we have and that is one of the many reasons why i floor more now.

Ironically a few yrs ago I dealt 1 night to Lederer, Ivey and CF and all of them won a considerable amount of money.I'll give you 1 guess who the only one was that didnt tip even 1 dollar!

Lmao, this place is like a bad crack habbit, you just cant walk away cold turkey.
I am getting extreemly tired of telling y'all I have not complained about my job or my pay....refer to my OP. Also $30 is just a guess and I will not confirm an ammount for the ME. and since you are in the industry, you have had those weeks or days im sure that you have made bank, and also those times where it has sucked. My job is the same in a sense that there is no guaranteed pay other than what the casino hosting the event is giving us in an hourly wage. That ranges anywhere from as low as 5.15 to 7.25/hour. I have worked events that I have made about 15.00/hour and there are events that I have made 50/hour and higher. I roll with the punches and just keep my head up through the low times as im sure you do. And I would NEVER trade spots with you in an instant! I have the highest respect for what you do. I dont know why everyone has taken what I said to a rude poster who attacked me first as that I was implying that I have the toughest job than anyone around. I have watched dice dealers and I am spellbound by how on point you all are at all times with 1000 things going on all at once. I, like yourself, take pride in my work and the skills it takes to do it day in and day out. So when some rude donk attacks me and belittles my job, your damm right I will defend it as I know you would.
So just to clarify one last time...I LOVE MY JOB!!!

The problem is you made statements they we can all see where you were complaining about your pay. You want us to pretend you didnt write them or something. Why would you need a representative for dealers next year so things go better if there were no problems? You said there were problems with you pay. You said harah's should pay you more. Did you not say these things? If you did then obviously your complaining about your pay yes?

And i'm not insulting you. I'm ust not agreeing with your backpeddling. I have nothing against you except you seem to want to brainwash us all into beleiveng something other than what you wrote. We're not as stupid as you may think we are. Once you admit you said these things we would get off your back and move on in the discussion or move on period. You have basically insulted everyone in this thread yet you cry we are all insulting you. Noone is insulting you just not agreeing with you.

We heard you the first time. In fact, many of us were reminiscing about 1999 when it was still funny.

I can't stand when service industry workers complain about tips. It's a risk of the job; at what point did everyone start taking tips for granted? Welcome to America. We're capitalists here. Not happy with the income at your current job? Go do something else.
