i bet the party really died after this

LOL

I heard a bout a party in Davy, Indiana where someone got shot in a drive-by. They talked about it for about a half hour them parties 'til 6 am.

It's easy to imagine being the hero of this story. I guess if we were the victim, we would have done a spinning aerial kick and knocked him out, grabbed the gun as it was flying through the air, and shot his homeboy as he was running toward the door.

If you never looked down the barrel of a loaded gun, you wouldn't understand why killing someone would not be easy.

Also, seeing someone murdered, or a random dead body on the sidewalk, is traumatizing, far different than a funeral. I would probably need serious therapy after killing someone.

I hear that they give this kind of therapy to police officers after they kill someone.

I have known people who are murderers. They are full of remorse.

Anyone pulls a gun on me, a friend or pretty much anyone I would feel 0 remorse for killing them. I would probably use lethal force liberally if not for the legal repercussions. This is largely due to my belief that most people are a detriment to gene pool. *not advocating genocide

If everything went down as described he acted accordingly IMO. Villain even disregarded the warning and was holding a gun.

A criminal with a gun is serious business you don`t fool around. I got robbed at gunpoint 3 times and got almost shot once. Also, my father is alive, cause my mother was holding a 357 and acted fast against some mugs with a shotgun ...

I used to be against guns.

Your argument makes no sense at all.

Really you guys who say you'd just shoot someone dead are insane, do you really want to live your life knowing you killed someone, to me that's the most hideous thing you could do other than rape or child molestation. Killing another human would be an impossibility for me.

[/ QUOTE ]

Please post your address so criminals can rob, rape and murder your entire family without fear of reprisal.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd like to add, seeing my family suffer or get killed or both would be an impossibility for me. As in, either I'd try to stop it or feel like I betrayed my duty to them for the rest of my life. I'd probably hang myself.

It was either that, or "Oh yeah?" I think you made the right choice.

[...]could someone please enlighten me to the probability that this guy shoots the guy on the floor after getting shot in the head... like... an involuntary finger pull motion?[...]

[/ QUOTE ]

Low: if you just randomly hit him in the head. Most likely he is unconscious upon impact.

Very low: if you seriously injure the brain. Most likely he is unconscious upon impact plus there is severe brain damage.

Close to zero: if you hit the cerebellum. All of the above plus no more coordinated finger movement possible.

Zero: if you sever the spinal cord. All of the above plus all limbs go limp instantly.

But keep in mind: A probability of zero doesn't mean it's impossible.

This is a very scary situation. I pray for all those involved, including the robber. If there was one lesson that jesus wanted to teach us, it was to love and to forgive. I hope that the robber finds his piece in heaven and everyone involved is able to go forth with their faith intact after such an event.

I can't believe your friend is not going to jail?!?
He killed the guy in cold blood. If the robber made a move with his gun or something it's ok, but he just stood there and mouthed off your friend and your friend just shot him dead. That seems wrong to me and looks like 2nd degree murder.
I'm not sure about American laws but i'm sure you would be in trouble in Canada if you shot someone dead like that.

[/ QUOTE ]
Self defense is pretty broad. If you feel like your life or your friend's life is endangered you can take another's life. Since the other guy was pointing a gun at the hostage and wouldn't drop it this should be more than enough. There is a certain amount to be said for the crime being committed in his home too. You can get away with self defense easier defending your home than if the same thing happened at someone else's home or on the street.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not in the good old uk you can't. [censored] 2nd degree, this would be open and shut 1st degree murder in jail for life. But 'life' in the uk is a joke 14 yrs out in 10 or so anyway. uk legal system angers me.
I am not a lawyer or anything, but I'm pretty sure this is the case and an old dude who lived on a farm and shot a robber in his house got banged up for a long time.

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought this was because the guy was trying to get away and he shot him in the back.

This guy had a gun pointed at someone else, so it's probably fair game.
