There's a couple scenes from Band of Brothers that had me tear up. Notably, the scene when they find the concentration camp. Some of the fight scenes hit me pretty hard simply because they are so well done that for a brief moment i felt a touch of what it might have been like to be in battle. [/ QUOTE ] The scene where the big guy (sadly I can't remember his name) has the nervous break down while they're being shelled is the only time I've ever had tears streaming down my face. Other than that there have been lots of times my eyes have watered, especially in Band of Brothers. |

Reposting this, just in case it was missed the first time around. I think it's worthy of consideration, in the Grown Man Choked Up Sweepstakes: The recent thread about men crying at movies reminded me of the only time I ever got choked up watching TV. Ken Burns' Civil War on PBS, the end of the first installment, when this letter was read by Paul Roebling over a backdrop of Ashokan Farewell.... [/ QUOTE ] Was this the series from maybe 10-15 years ago? A history of the civil war with a lot of letters being read over old sepia/bw photos? Great series. |

I agree with a few of the films above, Hotel Rwanda, Band of Brothers, Shawshank, and a bunch of other films where people overcome hardship, like Seabiscuit (even though it was telegaphed for the entire film).
A couple I'd add: Silent Running. Dances with Wolves (found the ending to be depressing). |

I can't believe The Notebook hasn't been said. Cried like a little girl. [/ QUOTE ] My wife and I were watching this movie in the theatre a couple of years ago because it was my turn to suffer through a chick flick and at the end of the movie, everyone around us was balling their eyes out. So it's obviously sad (in a very manipulative way which kind of cheapens it) and to be honest I'm holding back a tear, when I hear my wife literally bust out laughing! Of course with all the sobbing around us it probably isn't clear to everyone that she's in fact laughing at the movie and basically at all of us, and I decide it's probably best to cover up just how "heartless" she is, so I pretend that her laughter is sobbing and audibly comfort her. We laugh the whole way home about it. My wife is awesome. As for the original question, for me it's The Elephant Man The Green Mile |
