How did Raymer go from being crippled with 6500 to being above average with 32k, and then all the way to 50k? There seems to be an information gap here. When I went to bed, 2 hours before the day's end, he was at 6k and I figured him to be eliminated. [/ QUOTE ] He continually got it in as a 70/30 favorite, obv. also, i start in four hours and can't get back to sleep. This bodes well for the quality of my 3AM play. |

Cardplayer has Nath at 23.4K and Mikey Mouse at 23K [/ QUOTE ] I think I played against this guy in event #31... He has 2 quite large Mickey Mouse card protectors. He busted out Lederer a bit before dinner on day one. (event #31) As Lederer pushed short stacked from the CO, he woke up in the BB with JJ. Before he flipped his cards Lederer quipped, " I think you have me Mickey Mouse." Saw the guy playing 2 days later in the 1k Rebuy... he may just be a regular that I didn't know... |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Oh please, garden variety bad beats are a dime a dozen. Now, at my table we got shorty all in with QQ and "villain" with 88. Flop, Q44, villain congratulates shorty on a nice hand. I make the mistake of pointing out that "villain" could still runner-runner quads. You do the math... [/ QUOTE ] Being all-in PF --> not a bad beat, just a funny way to lose an 80/20 match-up. [/ QUOTE ] So according to you, it is not a bad beat to be an 80/20 favorite when the money goes in, then a 99/1 favorite after the flop, and lose? What exactly would qualify as a bad beat in your world? And what color is the sky there? [/ QUOTE ] Psychologically, a bad beat, sure. As in QQ guy saw the flop and said, 'aw, hells yeah!' But technically, still just a standard above average 80/20 beat, considering that's where the money went in. There are comments about this every day, how can you have almost 1000 posts and not know this. P.S. That 'what color is the sky' stuff is lame. [/ QUOTE ] If you get your money in as an 80% favorite and lose, you were given a bad beat. What about that do you not understand? |

it's not a bad beat because great players shouldn't make a habit of putting their tournament life at risk as an 80/20 favorite

it's not a bad beat because great players shouldn't make a habit of putting their tournament life at risk as an 80/20 favorite [/ QUOTE ] If the price of Phil Hellmuth getting eliminated on day 1 is having to hear his advice for the next 3 weeks, I say give him another buyin and set him up for day 1D My early prediction for the tourney was that raymer would win. If Raymer even Final Tables this event, I would give him serious consideration as one of the best tourney players along with Phil Ivey and Dan Harrington. |

[ QUOTE ]
This tournament is starting to piss me off "Spiked Jacked Nath Pizzollato and seat 10 are all-in pre-flop. Pizzollato has AA, seat 10 JJ. The flop comes down Q82 and the Aces are still in the lead. The turn is the 3 and seat 10 is looking for one of the remaining two Jacks in the deck. The river does bring the J and Pizollato's Aces gets cracked on the river. Pizollato now sits at $17,000. " [/ QUOTE ] 80/20...happens on the internet ALL the time! Saw AA get in pf yesterday, no less than 8 times as a 80/20 favorite....Aces held up once, gay. |
