f sunday tournaments. ive placed 60, 190, 1050, 1970, 45, 702, and 72 in my last sunday party tournaments. ridiculous to get to under 100 and bust.

i think ive spent like 4k on supers/sundays alone

Whats the best way to get in this party tournament if I dont want to buy in direct?

satellites, i reckon. i dont know much about it, but theres STT qualifiers and MTT qualifiers, probably about $20-50 for each depending on which one you choose.

I just moved from tourneys to 1-2 NL. I've played 7500 hands at basically breakeven. Yes, the kind of basically breakeven that is actually a little bit down (-$180).

It feels like I am losing way too frequently with sets. I mean, sure, we're deeper than in a tournament, so people fold overpairs more often and proportionally more often (compared to a tourney) when the money goes in it'll be set over set, or a big draw, rather than someone I have crushed. But it still feels like I'm losing way too often with sets.

7500 hands is nothing. I know this. I know I can't tell if I'm a winning player yet, etc. What I'd like to know is whether my sets are actually getting as hosed as they seem to be, within the small sample size.

Anyway:

In 7491 hands, I've been dealt 430 pocket pairs, flopped a set 44 times, lost a pot > $100 (50 BB) 8 times, won a pot greater than $100 7 times. Total I am +$518 on 44 sets, for an average of ~ $12 profit per set.

Overall, my pocket pairs JJ and lower are at -$448, or about - $1.30 per hand.

Please tell me this is abnormal

sets will not lose money (or fail to win a lot of money) long-term unless you're deliberately misplaying them... and there are plenty of donks who will not let go of an overpair, just keep at it.

They have 10+1 satellites all week. Usually a field of around 60 or so plays for 2 seats. The tourneys pay 5 spots. There are some $3 rebuy tourneys too. I'm in a 3r right now that awards 4 seats. 5th, 6th, and 7th get $1 between the 3 of them. LOL.
