it's nice to have options, but the long relief is going to be huge with the older staff and the quick hooks (at least i hope with willie) and i like the fact that we have maine, pelfrey and sosa to fill this role...
how big (or hopefully how little) of a role do u guys think mota will have?? frankly, i don't know if they leave him off the roster, but eh...i thought he would pick it up, but he just cannot seem to get it together, also the same with schoenwuss, though september was his best month (3.38) i guess some of these pen questions get answered this month |

Mota: I can't see any room on here except mop-up duty. His changeup is a sick out pitch, but he can't get to it without the rest of his stuff being crushed all over the park. With Maine and Pelfrey hitting the pen, he serves no purpose.
Schoeneweis: His only saving grace might be that he's a lefty. The only other lefty in the pen, mini-Pedro, is more of a 7th/8th inning guy than a situational LOOGY, so he might have some use in that role. You know, if there's a left-handed hitter coming up and we really really need someone to walk him. |

Willie likes to stick with the same routine of relievers even through the tough stretches without really trying to switch anything up. Granted theres not a lot of wiggle room with the bullpen but that good be a good or bad thing depending how they're running.
Feliciano should probably have a bigger role other than a spot lefty guy. No doubt he's a lot tougher on lefties than righties but he's been solid for a few years now and is really a solid anchor on the late innings. Call me crazy but whenever Schoeneweis or Mota come in I get the same feeling I did when Braden Looper came in to close out a 1 run game... |

Has Pelfrey ever come out of the pen? I doubt it but I would really like to have him try it a few times before the playoffs start.

The return of El Duque. Hopefully he is dominant enough to get to 10 wins tonight. I'd love to see that number drop to 12 tonight...
