[ QUOTE ] Its not like I love poker, but what else am I going to do that gives me this much freedom and lets me make this much money with no education? [/ QUOTE ] I understand that POV. I feel like I should appreciate this more. At the same time, having all this money hasn't made my life quality any higher. All this freedom, and 90% of what I do involves me sitting in front of my computer. [/ QUOTE ] agree w/ both of you, but i still sort of find poker interesting. only when im winning though.. |

[ QUOTE ] If i found poker a grind and only played for the $$, I would have quit long ago. If you hate this find something you love and do that instead. Why waste your life doing something you hate? [/ QUOTE ] Doing something I love for a living, sounds incredibly hard to achieve. Regardless of the fact I have no idea what that could be, switching "careers" at this point would be extremely difficult I'm sure. There's also the opportunity cost of not playing poker. I'm sure I can still grind out low six figures even while running like absolute dogshit against the biggest fish I can find at 5/10. The poker swings pretty much directly affect my mood, which of course is an absolutely terrible way to play for a living. It seems like something I won't be able to get over. I am planning to travel a bit in the future but have an expensive lease here in LA that isn't up for about 5 months. [/ QUOTE ] I understand your points. But guess i just can imagine playing so much and putting in so much time if i hated playing the game. I cant imagine going through the rough patches if the upswings gave me no other joy but the added $$$$. Also sitting infront of a computer all day when u dont want to be there sounds like a pretty miserable existence. |

Damn Oki, i wish i had the same outlook as you. whilst i dont hate poker, i am a loooong way from loving it. guess ive got an added appreciation for what we do as i worked a full time job for 18 months so i know how bad it really is to work 50-60hr weeks for about 1/5th the money i can make putting 25hrs a week in playing poker.

[/ QUOTE ] Take a few weeks off go do something else, I know that gets thrown around alot but do it. Go on holiday or chill just do something different. It sounds like you havent be running great but take a break etc. I honestly think playing when you in the wrong head space - running bad, tilted, burnt out etc. Is the biggest mistake that MSNLers make. You play like turd when u dont realise it an it crushes your motivation |
