Final scene in "Lost in Translation" (2003)
Maybe not a bad moment, but what did Bill Murray's character whisper to Scarlett Johansson's character? |

[/ QUOTE ] It's far better to imagine this than have it said. Thought of another one of these - the hallucination scenes in the Big Lebowski. They're well shot and interesting but ultimately they're not funny and just strange. |

As much as I actually want to believe thats what it is - it is not really that.
The overall scene is great, the kiss makes it slightly unclear in a situation where you shouldn't be ambiguous. |

I loved that scene. She wasn't giving him a passionate "I Love You" kiss. She gave a him a warm "Thank you for caring so much about me" kiss. As he walks away, he says to himself "Enough now" because he has finally declared his love and can get on with his life. [/ QUOTE ] The problem is it just never happens that way in real life. The grand gesture to the girl with the husband/fiance/ boyfriend almost always ends in an aww shucks, thanks i am so flattered but it could never work type of thing, or an outright dismissal how could you put me in this spot kind of thing. If Keira Knightley's character cared so much for her husband, she would not being giving out "thanks for caring" tongue downs. If she didn't care so much for her husband, she'd acted in one of the aforementioned ways. Either way, cool scene. James |

Goodfellas: The very last line of the film, right before they play Sid Vicious' version of 'My Way:' "I'm an average nobody... get to live the rest of my life like a schnook." SHNOOK? Isn't that Yiddish? Why the hell would Henry Hill use the word "shnook?" I just really wish it had been "typical mope" or something. [/ QUOTE ] Rewind a little further and you get the worst part of Goodfellas. The whole scene where he gets up from the witness stand to talk to me sucked SO BAD. I would put that right up there with one of the worst moments that I've ever seen in film. Just horrible. |

I hope no one has said any of these, but this is a LONG thread and i only read bout 2/3s of it.
Return of the Jedi: Admiral Achbar: "It's a trap!" - I still think this was a terrible line (still much love for the holy trilogy). Return of the King: All the dialoge between Frodo and Sam on Mount Doom. -Not bad acting, terrible lines though, mad cheesy and gay. |

I just rewatched "Fight Club" and the parking garage security camera scene wasn't as bad as I remember. The only scene that really made no sense was how they started the fights. No one is walking up to some guy beating the crap out of himself and saying "Can I be next?". [/ QUOTE ] This is actually addressed in the commentary tracks on the DVD. If you will notice, when the guy says "can I be next?" Tyler is fighting some random, not his alter ego. The director and writer said they had no answer as to how to get there, so they just glossed over it. I always pictured Jack re-enacting his imagined first night with Tyler with some other person, and its their play-fight that gets noticed. [ QUOTE ] BTW: There really weren't any multiparty conversations to explain away. Norton actually says "Sometimes it was Tyler talking through my voice" as Tyler tells him what to say to the doctor stitching up his face, and Marla was never talking to both egos at the same time. [/ QUOTE ] This is correct. All the conversations actually make sense on both levels, as one person and as two people. |

Did anyone see "Sexy Beast" with Ben Kingsley and Ian McShane? This movie had some legendary lines. But I never understood why Teddy Bass (Ian McShane's character) didn't bother to drain the Turkish bath prior to busting into the bank vault. As a result, the vault flooded and safety deposit box contents poured out everywhere. It was like a heist in outer space at zero gravity...

Return of the King: All the dialoge between Frodo and Sam on Mount Doom. -Not bad acting, terrible lines though, mad cheesy and gay. [/ QUOTE ] Most of that dialogue came straight from the book. It's got some extremely non-hetero [censored] going on in it. |
