Ivan Rodriguez has 5 walks this year. [/ QUOTE ] Sort of related: Jose Molina's batting average is higher than his OBP in 24 AB with the Yankees. Look soon, it probably (hopefully) won't last long. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] The Arizona Cardinals franchise has never won a playoff game. [/ QUOTE ] False [/ QUOTE ] Yeah WTF. The rest of his post is interesting, but everybody in AZ remembers that Cardinals-Cowboys game. I mean, that crappy team has been here for twenty years and they've won a single playoff game, so we're gonna remember it. [/ QUOTE ] And "franchise" implies the inclusion of the stays in Chicago and St. Louis. Meaning that someone is forgetting the 1947 championship. [/ QUOTE ] alright alright, I screwed that up. I still don't remember that game, though. I must not have watched the playoffs that year. |

[ QUOTE ]
Ivan Rodriguez has 5 walks this year. [/ QUOTE ] What makes that stat even more insane is that he had 5 walks in ONE GAME on April 8th, 2003. This came during his 1 season with the Marlins. None of the walks were intentional. |

This was when he was leading off for the Yanks. |

[ QUOTE ] Philadelphia is going on 94 consecutive sports seasons without a championship. Cleveland is going on 118 consecutive sports seasons without a championship. [/ QUOTE ] Damn, 118 sports-seasons is really glaring considering they only have 3 of the 4 major sports (I'm assuming you are only counting "the big 4"). [/ QUOTE ] Recently the Phillies lost their 10,000th game. I believe that is the most of any franchise in any sport in history. Hard to imagine a non-baseball team holding that record, so I won't bother to look it up. |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] There are 69 African Americans playing in Major League Baseball. A list compiled by ESPN. com revealed that 69 out of 750 active players (not including the disabled list) on opening day this year were American blacks. Neither Houston nor Atlanta – cities that are 25 and 61 percent black, respectively – had a single American black. [/ QUOTE ] OMG but look at the Rockets and Texans!!! An over-representation of American Blacks ZOMG call the press!!! [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I don't get this. It's not like teams recruit players from the local populace. With 69 African-Americans, that's only 2.3 per team. Not surprising that a few teams have none. The irony of me saying this, is that the Braves actually *do* (sort of) recruit from the local populace. And they do now have Willie Harris (who is from Cairo, GA). For those who are curious, here is an article from last year about the declining # of black players in MLB. Cliff notes: In 1974 it was 27%, and it is now around 10%. http://www.counterpunch.org/donnelly10252006.html |
