Gorillas are vegetarians too, but I wouldn't advise you going up to one and trying to kill it.

From "Animal Faceoff":

African Elephant vs Brown Bear:

A 14,000 pound elephant vs. an 1,100 pound bear? Our experts and analysis say the elephant would win at least nine out of ten times. Why the caveat? Because anything can happen in the wild at any given moment, they say, and it is impossible to say for certain what would happen in a given bout.

[/ QUOTE ]

A grizzly stands a better chance than a brown bear (so...10%, instead of 5%). I'd think a polar bear would do better than either.

Yep. It's a true carnivore and it's bigger. But still...no.

give the human a gun, the great equalizer, and he wins with ease. i still say this could be a cool thread, but human is too weak and elephant is too strong.

True, but I don't believe all brown bears are grizzlies. I guess if we're just picking the "best" brown bear I stand corrected.

I doubt it. In a 100 ft. enclosed circle? This would need to be enough gun, and enough skill, to kill these animals dead nearly instantaneously with a couple of shots, otherwise the human gets smashed two to three seconds later.

I think we're using the best from each type of animal.
