well, Neteller goes belly up today, I get my ass kicked at work, I've got to go in early tonight to get ready for more ass kicking and THIS happens:

today's session .50/1 (the land of pain and death) 606 hands 15/9/4 $83 upswing.

I believe that is a Cramer BOOYAH right there!

I think I'll spend the weekend hiding at .02/.04 while the inevitable downswing happens. HA [censored] YOU VARIANCE!!!

Well, I'm kinda on life tilt right now. I just got heaps of data in, and so far, it looks like it's saying that everything I've been working on doesn't work. Yes yes, there are other things to be done, mistakes to check for, revisions to my methodology that could be made, etc., but it still puts me in a pissy mood. Combine this with the neteller crap, and I'm not particularly personable right now.

What a horrible night I had last night...

1st the whole Neteller issue has pissed me off completely (yes I'm a non-US citizen but it still pisses me off!)

2nd After dropping 100B @ 5/10 I manage to get it back to only being 50BB, I then decide to play 1/2 5max to see if I can win there, nope another 50BB downswing, [censored] it can I win @ 2/4 5max? Nope again but only -20BB that time which is bugger all I guess, still -$680 in a night is not fun.

Least surprising update in the world:

It's time to start drinking.

I'm going to be drinking thematically tonight, and I'm going to go in chronological order. First was Neteller, so I'll toast to it first. There's a clear thematic cocktail for this: the Scofflaw. It was invented during Prohibition, and was named for the drinkers of the day who scoffed at the Noble Experiment. The parallels with today are obvious. For those who are interested in toasting with me, the drink is made with:

1.5 oz Canadian Whiskey
1.5 oz dry vermouth
0.5 oz lemon juice
1 dash grenadine
1 dash bitters

Stir these ingredients with ice, and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon wheel.

This is a pretty apt drink for Prohibition drinking, actually. It calls for Canadian whiskey, since our Canadian brethren were the typical source for whiskey during Prohibition. If you don't stock Canadian whiskey, I'm sure bourbon will work fine. Actually, since FTP is based in Ireland now, I'll use Irish whiskey instead. In addition to the apt whiskey choice, we've got a little bit of bitterness at the law, but a little bit of sweetness since we're getting around it.

For my second drink, when ever I wind up in a really bitter mood, I often turn to my friend Chartreuse. It's a green, bitter, herbal liqueur that weighs in at a nice 101 proof. It's a little intense to drink on its own, though, but it's a welcome kick when mixed. I would do a B, B, or V poll, but really, this is only a beat or variance. There's no brag about it. I'll be drinking my Chartreuse in one of two ways:

Brandy (Beat) - the Champs Elysees
1.5 oz brandy
1/4 oz Chartreuse
1 oz lemon juice
2 dashes bitters

Shake, strain, garnish w/ a twist of lemon.

I tried out this drink the other night, and I was surprised at how good the bitters and the Chartreuse worked together. Also, this drink gets bonus points for containing bitters.

Vodka (Variance) - The Drink Without a Name
2 oz vodka
1/4 oz Cointreau
1/8 oz Chartreuse

Stir, strain, garnish w/ a twist of orange

This has been my go-to bitter drink. There's not a whole lot to it other than bitterness, alcohol, and a hint of orange, which, for when I go for this drink, has been just the right mix.

What'll it be, folk? You guys decide my second drink for the night.

wookie,

i already told you how i roll.

all,

tomorrow is what davidson calls "self-selection night". basically, it's the first night of pledging for fraternities. it is also when the girls find out what eating houses they are in. (they fill out a preference sheet and a computer determines their house.) everyone gets really drunk and then the new pledges run to the various eating houses in women's underwear and get smeared with ketchup, chocolate, etc. it's all very fun.

naturally, the pledges get drunk a bit differently than the girls. namely, they are stuck in our basement with a variety of liquors and seniors shouting at them. their special surprise is plates of everclear jello. they also have a big pot with straws and various alcohols dumped in together. everything must be finished before they get out.

don't you wish you joined a fraternity?!?!

all,

told gf last night about vegas. i didn't tell her about poker, just that phil and i would be gone wed-sun gambling and drinking. she laughed at me and said that she was happy that i told her and that now she could send out a campus-wide memo and that she would also tell the paper so that they could put in a special announcement.

i slapped her.

holla

In other news:

COSTA RICA MANANA!*
