Lee, the new FPP system for small stakes NL games is great. That almost single-handedly makes me want to switch from FT to Stars. Basically, in 24 hours when the tables get switched over, I'm there.
But I'm pretty agitated about this account-specific reload you're offering. The problem with such a reload is that it creates a great deal of uncertainty regarding what you need to do to get rewarded on your site. Do you have to play high limits, or will any limits do? Do you have to have a large balance on the site, or is it targeted to people with small balances to encourage them to put more money on? Do you target loyal players in order to reward them for their loyalty or are you aiming for players who haven't given you much action lately in an attempt to bring them back? It just creates a giant guessing game. I'm sure you're aware of what a fiasco the Party VIP program was, and basically it came down to nobody knowing wtf they had to do to become a VIP. A lot of people didn't even know if they were VIPs. Your VIP system is much better primarily because you know what you need to do in order to get rewarded. Account-specific reloads are a step away from that. All of a sudden players start wondering if playing on Stars infrequently is the way to go because it attracts account-specific reloads (or so the thought process goes). You should have seen the frenzy that went on in the forums here when Party offered account-specific reloads - people posting what limits they play and how many hands to determine how Party decided to give out bonuses, etc. etc. Account-specific reloads are just a mess: they (unintentinally) ostracize players and lessen the reward for giving Stars all your play (because doing so might screw you out of a nice $1000 reload). |

You know, they address an issue that was one of the biggest for a lot of us and he gets a bunch of grief over the bonus thing.
They're tying to bring party's players back to Stars and that can only be good for Stars and Stars players. |

If the bonus was targeted at Party fish who haven't played in a while and it entices a lot of them to join Stars, then it is a good thing for all. I'd rather have that and be left out of the bonus, then no bonus at all. |

I think the alienation and sometimes even resentment that such player-specific reloads can cause is worth addressing as Stars just now started one up.
That said, I'm still thrilled that Stars is improving the FPP system. I would still be going for Supernova even without the improved FPP system and WITH the account-specific bonus that I didn't get. Obviously I'm even more encouraged now with the improved FPP system. |

This encourages me to stop playing at their site so that I can get similar offers. I had been planning to try to make Supernova by the end of the year and play a lot at Stars next year (at least enough to maintain Supernova, possibly even more if the new bonuses at 200k+ VPP are good enough). Now I'm not so sure that I might not be better off just playing with rakeback at FTP and WPEX and just showing up at Stars when they offer me some massive bonuses. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't think they're rewarding or punishing anyone, this is just a one-time business move based on what's happenening in the poker industry. There are a ton of homeless poker players out there right now, and Stars has just taken a huge step to acquiring a lot of them. It's kind of funny, in the past week people have been complaining about Stars not doing anything to get the former Party players, and now they come out with this bonus, and people still complain. At first, I was upset about being shafted for this bonus, but now I think it's a brilliant move on Stars part that could pay dividends for all of us down the road when it brings in a whole bunch of idiots who may have chosen other sites or even quit alltogether. |

One other comment about this $1000 bonus. Any time a site puts more money back into the poker playing economy, it benefits us all, especially if it's going to casual players or fish, as is the case here. If even 1,000 players clear this bonus, Stars has put a million bucks back into the hands of fish that will eventually funnel it's way into the pockets of the better players on the site. So even if you didn't receive the bonus, and I think most of the higher stakes/supernovas didn't, you will eventually reap the rewards of the increase of fish this bonus could bring.

Their CS replies indicate otherwise. Also, most of that bonus money is not going into the "poker economy". Much of it will go straight into the pockets of winning players... but not mine. |

15k points in 60 days, this bonus is impossible for anybody but a heavy multitabler to clear, right? I have no use for this bonus really, and I imagine most of the people depositing under it don't either.
What I find unsettling about this is the sucker's nature of the bonus. It just doesn't seem like stars. |
