How did Raymer go from being crippled with 6500 to being above average with 32k, and then all the way to 50k? There seems to be an information gap here. When I went to bed, 2 hours before the day's end, he was at 6k and I figured him to be eliminated.

[ QUOTE ] It's such a shame for really great players to get all their money in against idiots as a 70/30 fav for a huge pot and be sent home... [/ QUOTE ] Great players shouldn't make a habit of putting their tournament life at risk when a 70/30 favorite. They won't survive very long. [/ QUOTE ] lolololololololol |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I still want to know where the 50% came from [/ QUOTE ] Chance of being eliminated: .30 + (.7 * .3) = .51 In back to back 70/30 situations, you'll be eliminated 30% the first time. In the 70% of the times survive, you'll be eliminated 30% of the time (.7 *.3). So, in two back to back 70/30 hands, you are likely to be knocked out of the tournament. [/ QUOTE ] So flipping coins head/tails 50/50 two times... head=.5+(.5*.5)=0.75 tails=.5+(.5*.5)=.75 ??? [/ QUOTE ] 0.75 is the probability that you will *not* get heads twice, not the probability that you *will*. HTH. |

[ QUOTE ] Oh please, garden variety bad beats are a dime a dozen. Now, at my table we got shorty all in with QQ and "villain" with 88. Flop, Q44, villain congratulates shorty on a nice hand. I make the mistake of pointing out that "villain" could still runner-runner quads. You do the math... [/ QUOTE ] Being all-in PF --> not a bad beat, just a funny way to lose an 80/20 match-up. [/ QUOTE ] So according to you, it is not a bad beat to be an 80/20 favorite when the money goes in, then a 99/1 favorite after the flop, and lose? What exactly would qualify as a bad beat in your world? And what color is the sky there? |

How is it possible this cardplayer tidbit is not in this thread?
[ QUOTE ] Ship It...Again Alan Sass just took down a pot pre-flop with a raise. The table has been folding to most of Sass's raises the last 2 hours. [/ QUOTE ] Seems the Ship It Holla crew made an impression. (Cardplayer has Usher at 32,500 at the end of the day.) |

But technically, still just a standard above average 80/20 beat, considering that's where the money went in. There are comments about this every day, how can you have almost 1000 posts and not know this. P.S. That 'what color is the sky' stuff is lame. |

Your looking to build chips so that losing coinflips and 70/30's won't hurt you. |
