1. Trying to take the pot away since he showed weakness.

2. Getting money in the pot with my double gutter and overcard, in case my card(s) come, my pot will be bigger.

I mean, the guy only bet 6 on the flop and checked the turn. Seems pretty weak to me. Turns out he was terribly slowplaying a big hand on the turn, when an obvious check raise would have been the right play here.

ok so given what you hoped to accomplish, what was your reasoning behind the 1/3 pot bet?

At the 1/2 level, the play is terrible. Most times, this play works, and you don't have to make a pot bet to get it to work. Weak flop bet, check the turn, they are ready to give their hand away. Any bet in that spot usually works for me at this level. Granted, I could have bet 16-18 instead of 10, but if he just had a hand like A9 or even 33, he would probably fold here.

I lost 5 buyins tonight with AA and KK value potting low streets and having people call with TPNK and rivering trips / 2 pair. I hate poker. DIAGF Poker. I'm showering and going to bed being lucky I made 2 of those buyins back and will in a couple days start playing again. GG Saturday.

well the point is that your 2 goals were to 1) fold out better hand and 2) build a pot for when you hit if you get called. 1/3 pot has less fold equity AND puts a lot less money in the pot when called so given the intentions of your bet in the first place its a horrible option
