You bet your ass they are going to look the other way. They will make a show of a few examples, but by and large it is in their best interest to keep the status quo.

Now that you mention it curtains, I don't think the sites do enough against the disconnectors.

[/ QUOTE ]

At least Party has done something in the past. I made a final table in one of the $200 tournaments in January 2004. The guy who got second was using his "disconnection" every time he faced a big decision. All of us in the FT were really mad at this guy, and we wrote to support, before the tournament ended.
I got 5th in that tourney, some days later we received an email from Mike O'Malley, they d'q the guy who got second (the prize for 2nd was 32k I think), and they moved us one spot; so I got 3k more and 4th place.

Poker Stars support are nice guys, they even answer you if you ask them about the weather in Mugamba. But I do like best the kind of support Party has been giving for long time now, in this issue.

Well...to be fair there was no disconnect protection available on Stars.

Cmon guys.
It's nice and all that multi accounters are being punished, but there is nothing worse than being a snitch.

I have alot more respect for someone who uses multiple accounts to maximize EV, than for someone who taddles.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know if I responded to this already, but this is an unbelievable train of thought. What a loser.

curtains: statements like "ZJ's life is ruined" are ridiculous. Kid is living on easy street. See this post: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...c=1#Post4883879

Lee: I am very disappointed that you do not have a policy to confiscate all funds when you find someone cheating on your site. To think that someone who is willing to cheat in one way is not cheating in other ways (with friends, etc.) is naive. Just because your systems are unable to detect those things does not mean it isn't happening - this is a perfect example of someone not getting caught by your systems. So, given that he cheated without being detected by you, it's quite likely you are still unable to detect all the ways he's cheated. It is very disappointing to not see Stars impose punitive measures on cheaters. I do not like the idea that I can now go cheat/collude on Stars and the only penalty will be that you take back what you can definitively prove that I won by cheating. I am honestly shocked that you did not impose any punitive measures on ZJ. If I were in your spot, I would have confiscated all funds, returned what could be identified to those harmed, and have a freeroll or some other bonus with the rest.

Consider this. Policy 1 - if you cheat, your account will be closed and you can cash out nothing. Policy 2 - if you cheat, we'll figure out how much we think you won directly from cheating, and you can cash out the rest. I agree w/ what many of you have said. Looks like Stars is definitely the +EV place to do your cheating. Lee, I have been a big fan of yours and Stars for a long time. I'm very disappointed in Stars' attitude on this matter, just as I was disappointed in your attitude in the softplaying thread in HNL: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...age=0&vc=1 . I raised a couple of points there that you have yet to respond to. I'm not sure if you truly believe these positions are the best for maintaining the integrity of the game, if you just don't want to admit that the Stars policies have allowed for a lot of systematic shady goings on, or if you just don't want to alienate a lot of your high-volume, high-revenue players who aren't willing to play 100% straight up. I hope you'll reconsider and think about taking a stance more like "Cheating in any form is not tolerated at Stars, and violators will be punished in the harshest possible manner."

Triumph: If David (or anyone else) cheated at Magic, that greatly increases the chances that they cheat at poker as well.

teddy: Excellent explanation of why the Stars response does not adequately take into account the gravity or entirety of this situation.

And I agree with curtains that this kind of enthusiasm is a bit concerning.

Your empathy for ZJ and your embarassing showing in the Forum Suggestions thread on the topic have really lost you a lot of credibility in my book.

All,

For those who wish to join me, I'll be attempting an armed bank robbery this evening.

If we are successful, yahoo!

If we get caught, no worries. We just have to return the cash we took and will be politely asked not to use that particular bank again. Sounds like a sweet deal!

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd warn the cops, but apparently that's worse than actually taking a gun in and committing the crime!

lapoker17,

You must have missed the memo, he plans on studying under Men the Master now that Party and Stars have banned him.

I wish people would take others comments literally. The statement "This kind of enthusiasm is concerning" does not show empathy for ZJ. One does not have to be ecstatic and partying in the street to feel that the right thing was done.

I don't know what the rest of MicroBobs comments were, but you take one sentence, and then criticize the poster for something they didn't say, but that you simply implied.

Too many posters here are taking sentences and twisting around the meanings to fit their own agenda. If MB posted something else that you meant to respond to then fine, but the one comment you quoted was not addressed at all in your response. Things would really go better if you looked at the exact sentence/quote that you are responding to and determined what it meant exactly, not what you believe or feel the poster meant to say.
