Shane, what is correct tiping ettiqute for a buffet where the waitress say seats you and brings drinks but the food is self service? [/ QUOTE ] I don't eat at buffets very often, but I don't see why I wouldn't tip about 20% of the value of the meal if the server was helpful, useful and/or friendly. However, I could see an argument made for there being more room for discretion in terms of tipping buffet servers. |

And finally, way back when, Ali was in town for a fight with I can't remember whom. ... I always regretted that. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah - it looks like it had a big impact on your life - never getting to see what's-his-name. |

[ QUOTE ] greater than 30% tip for a cab is kinda crazy imo [/ QUOTE ] I just don't see myself lying on my deathbed regretting the extra 5-10% I tipped Vegas cabbies. [/ QUOTE ] I like your outlook on life. Let's compare notes when we get to our deathbeds and see how it all worked out. |

fare was like $10.20 at the most ... I hand the guy $12. He's like "c'mon man you only gave me $11" I say "no way I gave you 12" I grab the money and re-count since he's still holding it up by his head. I count it up and its 12 (2x5 + 2x1) .. take back a dollar bill. "now its 11" and leave. [/ QUOTE ] A+ |

[ QUOTE ] i generally tip what ever is between the cost and the next round bill number. i.e., $12.25 = $15.00 i.e., $14.75 = $20.00 i.e., $26.00 = $30.00 [/ QUOTE ] this is retarded. for a $46 fare you give $50 (~10%), or do you give $60 (30%)?? i'd hand the cabby $60 and ask for $5 back. in terms of more realistic examples (that one is like the rarity), for a $19.00 fare you give $20? weak ass sauce. Barron [/ QUOTE ] You couldn't leave well enough alone, could you dipstick? Furthering the pattern above for your narrow mindedness: $19.00 = $25.00 $23.75 = $30.00 $31.00 = $40.00 Go back to the depths of money trading from which you came. |

[ QUOTE ]
I've seen that, too. The dealer says to gamble it, they win. Then the next hand the guy is all excited about how fun that was gambling for the dealer so he tips another $5 just to do it again. Etc. Or, they lose, and the guy feels bad that he lost the dealer's tip so the next hand he puts down a $10 and goes "double or nothing". Or whatever. Just the general feeling of action and gambling seems to increase the tips. It's like giving action to get action. No one wants to tip a nitty dealer. You want to tip a dealer who participates in the fun and creates more action. Not saying that the dealers really do it for a rational purpose, but I really don't think it's very -EV for them, if at all, due to this observation. [/ QUOTE ] yeah this seems like a pretty good explanation for their approach. |
