Yeah, I have, and love it. Max Schreck really scared the heck out of me when I was a kid. He still ranks at the top of scariest dudes ever.

Did you ever see Shadow of the Vampire? that one with Willem Dafoe playing Max Schreck as if he were a real vampire all along? Very fun, though I think the ending kinda just farted out. Great performance though and a lot of fun.

I enjoyed Shadow of the Vampire. All my friends laughed at me. I didn't care.

Sherrybaby

Based on Barcalounger’s recommendation, I just saw Sherrybaby today. Wow, great performance by Maggie Gyllenhaal! I really loved the casting of this film. All the actors were so believable they could have stepped out of real life. Very nice direction here. Kind of like watching a documentary.

It follows a troubled young woman after she is released from prison and trying to re-establish a relationship with her little girl who is being cared for by her brother and sister-in-law. Our hero, Sherry, is clearly in trouble. Man is she awkward. That scene at the dinner table where she wants to sing, holy [censored]. And I thought I was messed up!

At times this movie is so uncomfortable it makes you squirm. There’s even one real Whoa, wtf? moment that happens pretty quickly where it leaves you sick to your stomach. Not exactly a feel good movie at all but definitely an awesome and heart-wrenching performance by Maggie G. Hope she won an award for it because she knocked it out of the park.

I have to agree with Barcalounger's comment that the film didn't need the weird plot point as an excuse for Sherry's behavior. It wasn't necessary.

Just watched Doube Indemnity. I haven't seen many noirs (I have seen Touch of Evil, but I don't recall any others), so I wanted to watch something noir.

The movie was very good. I liked the main character a lot. It is weird how he got into the situation in the first place, actually, I don't really buy it. But assuming you go along and believe the premise that someone gets into that situation, then the movie is excellent.

this weekend I saw the Mark Wahlberg movie, Shooter, and the Korean monster movie The Host.

Shooter was a decent genre pic, with a very interesting and obvious disgust and distrust of the government. And Kate Mara is my new movie-girl crush. Beautiful.

The Host was fun...this giant shrimp monster rampages through the sewers of Seoul and it's up to this one family to stop it!

Crash - I had never seen it before. An insightful investigation into racism . At times sad, at times heartwarming, this movie plucks at the national heartstrings with fanatic ambition. This should be required viewing for all Americans. Except to Asian Americans as they're either probably unable to speak English well enough to understand or they're likely too busy running their slave trading ring. Unless you get one of those "good" Asians who can speak English and knows how to enforce the rules when crazy Persians are spouting their gibberish. I'm sure if the Asian slavers sat down with the intellectual African-American carjackers, they could eventually come to a great understanding of this country of ours.

About as subtle as a lead pipe to the head.

I just watched:

Casablanca (sorry Dom, I'll still watch it when I come out)
I cant believe I have put off seeing this for so long. I guess I thought it was really really long or something. But it was an amazing movie. Bogart is just a man's man in this. Cool, Respected, and just an all around great guy. Ha ha, I kind of felt bad for Sam being stuck in the middle and just being yelled at to play that damn song. :P I also thought it was cool that I could quote like 12 parts of that movie, never having seen it before. Truly a classic and a must see.

The good, the bad and the ugly.
Also not sure why I hadnt seen this one before. It was kinda long, but so good. You could definitely see why QT mimicked it in Kill Bill Vol. 2. Just a bad ass movie. I think we should bury 200K in the desert and have some 2+2ers duke it out while trying to find it.
