[ QUOTE ]
None of his jokes are anti-Jew. His jokes are making fun of people who are anti-Jew. Take the scene with the bed & breakfast Jewish couple. In no way is he joking about them -- he's pointing out how nice they are, which is why it's ridiculous when people are anti-Semitic like Borat; like, why would anyone fear a couple like that and think they turned into cockroaches and love money. His target is anti-Semitism. The jokes are pro-Jew. [/ QUOTE ] OBV, but I think some of that was pretty overboard. I know anti-semetic arabs who have jewish friends. Anti-semetism is pretty complicated. |

how borat does interviews. if there were ever a time to describe someone as a stupid b.itch this would be it, http://www.downtownexpress.com/de_179/howiwasduped.html [/ QUOTE ] She didn't come across as stupid or a b.itch at all. In fact her point about the interview was spot on. Is it really that funny when Borat acts like an ass and the people he interviews react rationally? No. The most interesting Borat scenes are where he convinces people to say and do things that show their prejudices, like the scene at the rodeo or with the used car salesman or the frat boys in the camper. In the interview with the women all he did was act retarded and get kicked out. He didn't even make them uncomfortable (like the people who saw him running around naked, or the dining club people, or all the kissing in the NY subway). |

I went to see a 3 PM screening today. Probably about 50 people in the theater.
I'm sorry to say I'm going to have to side with the nays on this one. I mildly chuckled a few times, laughed a few times, but was nowhere close to laughing to the point of almost being in tears. I agree with previous posters that said it would have been better to not have seen any clips, or to not have seen Borat before at all. The scenes that I had already seen just dragged for me. I found some of the scenes more sad and bizarre than funny. The best example being the scene in the church. The Pamela Anderson scene didn't do anything for me at all. It was very short, and nothing really happened. Maybe I needed to go see this drunk or high in a packed theater. I would give the film maybe 7 out of 10. The naked wrestling, and a few other scenes, were genuinely funny. To call this the funniest film of all time, is an insult to Peter Sellers, Mel Brooks, the Monty Python cast, the Zucker brothers, etc. |

[ QUOTE ] 4) ALL of the "actors" have to sign releases. So every one who was fooled were great sports about it after the fact. [/ QUOTE ] I dunno how they handle say the people on the subway and stuff, but all the major interviews and "scenes" the victim signs the waiver before borat ever even gets there. [/ QUOTE ] Well theres a camera already on the train, its quite obvious that the people know they are on some sort of production. However Im sure that in this scene the camera crew is dressed in normal clothes. They might have posed as a US news team of somehthing of this sort. You dont have to get super creative to make a scene like this work. |

i'm not trying to be cool by saying i didn't like it. maybe it's because i had seen it all before. maybe i have a different sense of humor than most people? i don't know. for instance i did laugh a few times, but never a really hard laugh. i thought the fat dude running around through the convention and stuff was pretty funny, but just because of how absurd the situation was. seeing some fat guy's balls on borat's chin just isn't that "ha ha" funny to me. the whole scene with the kids in the rv was pretty bad.. can't remember anything funny that happened there. of course you gotta love when he opens the door to the b&b and the guy is wearing the yarmulke. i liked when he pulled out the alcohol when he was on the road with the driving instructor. anyway i was just giving my honest take on the movie, not "hating on it" or anything. i saw it, nice. would i see it again? no. [/ QUOTE ] correct spelling of bolded text gives insight on why you did not enjoy the movie, amirite? |

"Condoleezza Rice is the “chocolate lady,” he claimed, implying that she beds foreign diplomats. " |
