If you guys have the means, the most impressive weight-loss photos are always those where the guy's in the same pose and you can put together day-by-day or week-by-week time lapse animations.
That'd be neato! |

Alrighty guys, here are my picks. Deadbody 26, 6'2" Current Weight: 375 Current BMI: 48.1 Goal Weight for BMI 25: 194 Goal Weight for BMI 22: 171 Weight to lose for BMI 25: 181 Weight to lose for BMI 22: 204 Deadbody, I didn't want to pick a lot of low post guys, but you and Acehawk both sort of jumped off the page. Again, your payments are capped at 200 lbs. $.25/lb 1->40 $.80/lb 41->70 $1.36/lb 71->181 $.89/lb 182->200 [/ QUOTE ] Dids, I'd like to thank you for picking me. I'm gonna order a scale next week so I can get it soon. I'm gonna put myself on notice that the first thing I need to do is to stop using food as a crutch. I eat when I am angry or bored, that is gonna stop, I'll take my dog for a walk instead. I'll be walking twice a day around the lake near my house (weather permitting) and still playing Frisbee golf about 4 times a week, that plus cutting out the extraneous eating will make a big difference. I will also go on record that any money I get from this challenge half will go to charity, Bison you have first request for a charity (unless it is something I am strongly against half will go there) The person who gets their BMI lowest in the challenge gets to pick the other half. I'm just trying to remember the last time I was under 200 lbs, and it was high school, so I want to get back there. THanks Bison, and good luck to all particpants, lets help keep each other motivated. |

I think you guys should stop worrying about what your ideal weight is. Set a short term goal that you can accomplish. Get a scale that measures body fat percentage. Monitor yourself and set goals as you progress.
You can still look good and be healthy at weights that are not in the ideal range. Drop 50 pounds and you will feel great. BMI is not a great measure. In a recent research study people with BMIs of 26, which is considered owerweight, actually had a lower risk of mortality than those with BMI of 25 or below. A better way to evaluate your success would be to keep a log of measurements that actually correspond to how healthy you are. For instance, body fat%, muscle mass, how many push-ups you can do, how well you sleep, aches and pains that you have, cholestorol levels, triglycerides, etc. If you are seeing progress in these areas it will keep you going, because acheive the "ideal" weight will take a long time and you may never get there. |

Bison,
Yeah I plan on doing weekly photos in the same pose. Gonna have to be with the shirt on for now as Dids said... lots of nastiness without the shirt. I might use a tight undershirt or something to that effect when taking the photo. |

CMAR, do you still have up to date information on who has offered to donate what, or do we need to recompile? [/ QUOTE ] I wasn't tracking the sponsors, that was Alexisonfyre, I was just listing the guys who wanted to participate. Congrats to all the guys who got picked! And just remember when you feel like giving up how pissed all of us who didn't get picked are gonna be if you puss out [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] Seriously, I have a real suggestion (yeah, another one!) Pick out what you're going to buy with the money NOW - a real treat NOT something practical. An Ipod, or a nice jacket (in a medium!!), or whatever. That'll give you something much more concrete to focus on as a reward (then again, we are a bunch of degenerate gamblers, so cold hard cash might actually be just the thing...) Obviously you can change this at any time, I'm just suggesting you have somethign concrete to look foreward too (besides better health, looks and longevity of course). FWIW, I started my new regimen this morning. I'll post an update tonight some time. Like I've said, the money is a great excuse to get started, I'm sure it will help the motivation down the road and I absolutely do not want to minimise the awesome initiative Bison and the other sponsors have taken. However, this is about an awful lot more than money. Here's the list, just 'cuz you're not getting paid to do something you should be doing anyway is no reason to cop out!! Code:

Name Age Height Weight Goal Acehawk74 25 5'11 415 I am aiming for between 180-200 So roughly 215-235 lbs to lose cnfuzzd 26 6'4" 350 Lose 150-190 (~160-200 final weight) comix 35 6'6" 397 Lose 187-227 (~170-210 final weight) Cry Me A River 38 6'2" 281 Lose 91-131 (~150-190 final weight) David H 16 5'10" 240 Lose 70-100 (~140-170 final weight) deadbody 26 6'2" 375 Lose 185-225 (~150-190 final weight) Dids 29 5'8" 331 My goal is to 130 lbs and get to 200 ethan 6'3" 255 I want to be around 215 Evans67 19 5'11" 245 Lose 65-105 (~140-180 final weight) dr3amer 43 5'10" 300 I will definitely try to lose 100lbs+ faquewdikhed 22 5'9" 198 Lose 30 FishNChips 33 5'9" 230 Lose 50-60 Force1 20 6' 250 Lose 70-110 (~140-180 final weight) gettym 18 6'1" 310 Lose 120-160 (~150-190 final weight) Jack of Arcades 19 5'8" 265 Lose 105-160 (~130-160 final weight) JonPKibble ?? 5'9" 200 Lose 30-60 (~140-170 final weight) jstnrgrs ?? 6'1" 314.4 Goal is 230lbs. by October 1, and 210 lbs by next summer kipin 21 6'6" 320-330 Lose 110-160 (~170-210 final weight) Kraln 19 6'1" 334 Lose 144-184 (~150-190 final weight) Mr_Oog 37 6'3' 370 Lose 170-210 (~160-200 final weight) nation 21 5'8"" 250-260 Lose 90-130 (~130-160 final weight) nuggetz87 18 5'10" 230 Lose 60-90 (~140-170 final weight) Ortho ?? ?? ?? Russ M. 27, 5'11" Current Weight: 334 Current BMI: 46.6 Goal Weight for BMI 25: 179 Goal Weight for BMI 22: 157 Weight to lose for BMI 25: 155 Weight to lose for BMI 22: 179 Russ, you've got weight to lose but it's not as eye-popping as some of these guys. You don't post much in OOT, and I don't know you very well at all. I'd suggest that anyone bitter for not being picked direct their scorn at Russ. [/ QUOTE ] Thanks for picking me. I was looking over the list of people who wanted to lose weight and began to think "Jesus, watch me not even be a big enough fat piece of poo to not make the 'Biggest fat pieces of poo list in OOT'." Whenever I post in OOT, it's mainly in the Lost, 24, and Sopranos threads. I've really been a giant fatass for all of my adult life and most of my childhood, as my friends and I would ride our bikes up to the grocery store (Publix down here in Florida) and buy candy and crap to sell to kids at school. I did this for awhile, then I started eating the candy (Blow Pops, bite-size Snickers, etc) and thought "Hey, this is much better than these worthless coins!" I'd also ride up to TCBY like 2-3 times a week. Once I started to get older (10-13), I'd ride up routinely and buy the big package of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (the package that has like 10 or 12 of em) and other assorted goodies and then I'd have to sneak them into the house so my parents didn't see. Then I'd scarf them down. Usually it'd take me only 2 days to finish them all, then I'd go back. Ugh. Once I stopped doing that, my new drug of choice was pizza, and that has continued all the way through today. A Papa John's opened up shop like 100 feet from my house, and I used to get one large pizza every Friday night. This turned into two pizzas a week, then three, sometimes four. And I'd finish them off with little problem, only occasionally I wouldn't be able to finish one last slice. I'd sneak pizzas into the house during the day and finish them off, then, because my dad would always give me crap about the empty pizza box (the nerve!), I'd just throw them under my bed and into my closet. At its worst, I had like 20 boxes in my closet and probably at least 8 under my bed. I had to wait until late at night and drive to the closest dumpster and toss them all in so nobody would see me. I still eat pizza every week because it obviously has had no adverse affects on my body over the last 10 years. Pizza is the bane of my existence. I played tennis and baseball in high school, and I also tried to play a lot of football and basketball whenever I could. Like I said earlier in this thread, if I didn't play sports, who knows where I'd be today. Maybe dead. My dad has had a long history of heart problems related to poor eating and smoking. I'm just one giant [censored] when it comes to health. I seriously need help and I'm very glad this is happening. I will post my pics tomorrow. Need to borrow a camera from my buddy. |
