On the bright side, we can get some reinforcements in here for Saturday's game and beyond. I think the gusy in the pen are just all worn out, from the "go to" guys to the mop up guys.
Will be nice to get some innings out of Humber, Smith, and a few others, just to save the arms of the Feliciano's, Sosas, Heilmans, and Wagners of the world. |

yea, it might be har to utilize them effectively, but hopefully willie can mix in the call-ups nicely while still making good decisions to win games...
hopefully rest is just what the pen needs... also, pedro targetting the 8 or 9th as a comeback, should be great to see as his rehab starts have been promising so far... |

[ QUOTE ]
July 25, 1990 Mets led 9-0, went into bottom of the 9th up 10-3, and gave up 6 runs in the bottom of the 9th. The last out was a line drive to short with the tying run on 3rd -- a basehit if not hit directly at SS. And Murphy ended it with something like "and the Mets win the damn thing 10-9". [/ QUOTE ] i found the clip .. seems you are right newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/ny-murph-audio-gallery,0,1782673.audiogallery?coll=ny-sports-headlines with a www in front of it for some reason i remember him saying damn in the rick camp game too .. oh well |

[ QUOTE ]
the only way this can get better is if this douchebag walks Utley ... and then either walks Burrell or gives up a grand slam [/ QUOTE ] Wagner has no heart. See Astros, and Phils previous lack-of-performance in the clutch. edited to say Phils will still choke after taking division lead then lose final 3 to Nats. |

[ QUOTE ] If you knew anything about the Phillies, you would realize why I am taking advantage of this oppurtunity to the fullest extent. Most likely, they will blow this in the most painful way possible. Needle you really need to lighten up. I can't stand it when people make generalizations off of one fan they encounter. It didn't even happen near Philadelphia, yet all Phillies fans are pathetic. [/ QUOTE ] Its actually not a generalization its a known fact that Philly fans are a bunch of asses: 1. They booed and threw snow balls at santa 2. They booed Donovan McNabb before he played a game 3. They booed their own hometown Kobe Bryant at an all star game 4. laughing as Michael Irvin had a career ending injury in 1999 5. Reports of spitting on Panther fans in NFC Championship game. If more examples are needed, I could be here all night. [/ QUOTE ] Actually im pretty damn proud of this list. Kobe beat us in the 2001 finals, come on. Micheal irvin plays for the cowboys, this is pretty standard. and you forgot throwing batteries on the field at the vet (forgot which game it was) edit: yea it was when JD Drew played here for the first time. he deserved it, hes an [censored]. |

They booed and threw snow balls at santa... in 1960, and it was a drunk guy from the stands in a half-santa suit 2. They booed Donovan McNabb before he played a game...well, 15 drunken louts did, hardly representative of a city 3. They booed their own hometown Kobe Bryant at an all star game...because he said he wanted to cut the Sixers heart out, and he's not from Philly anyway. 4. laughing as Michael Irvin had a career ending injury in 1999...we were laughing at Deion Sanders dancing around and pointing at the sky and himself and at Irvin like he was gonna cure him, pls show how everyone supposedly 'knew' that was a career ending injury, what a stupid thing to say. 5. Reports of spitting on Panther fans in NFC Championship game....I've personally seen Mets and Yanks fans spit on opposing fans many, many times. Pretending PHL fans are only ones [no excuse] is stupid. If more examples are needed, I could be here all night. [/ QUOTE ] You haven't given a good one yet. |

this thread does a great job of reinforcing most peoples' views of Mets fans: cry babies, sore losers, and loud mouths. [/ QUOTE ] I really thought met fans were better than yankee fans. As pissed as I am about the last 5 games, I'm really dissapointed by the fan base |

Mets fans whine because we know our team can do much better. We expect more out of a team with a huge payroll. We expect more when Wilpon and Minaya dump an ungodly amount of money on "elite" players. We don't want to see a team be barely in the lead.
The Mets may have the lead now, but if they keep playing the way they are, they won't make it to the playoffs. We've been [censored] on for years because the Yankees were the big team in town and the Mets were perennial losers at one point. Now, our team finally gets the chance to outshine the Yankees and we're screwing it up now. That is simply unacceptable. |

I wouldn't classify the Mets without Pedro to be an above average pitching staff. Yes the team ERA is low but guys like Perez and Maine have had career years. I think on paper, offensively the Mets should be much better this year, but their pitching has outperformed their talent level. |
