[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] if there are some videos of 5NL coming, i'll make another one either early tomorrow morning or sometime during the day tomorrow. it probably wont be the entire session because my sessions of late have been 2-3 hours long at minimum. gotta get those hands in and playing two tables doesnt accomplish that task all too quickly. [/ QUOTE ] get on and play some now ill watch and instruct [/ QUOTE ] do it gogogogo [/ QUOTE ] i wasnt online. how about midnight EDST or shortly after? i always play at 12AM to about 2 or 2:30, then again during the day when i wake up until i get bored. |

... but what was your leak, what happened ?? [/ QUOTE ] Well there were definately some bad beats buried in that swing, but probably only like 5/6 buy-ins worth. I started letting loose on some wild bluffs, and building unnecessarily large pots with TP type hands. I was also opening up my 3-betting range a ton, but really losing grasp of how to play in 3-bet pots. I think a good way of practicing playing in 3-bet pots is to play with shortstacks, or shortstack it yourself. There is a similar amount of money behind in both cases (although more money padding a 3-bet pot, obv). I think the biggest thing I learned was how important it is to think about what your opponent is holding, and on top of that, how to extract maximum value from your good hands based on those holdings. Like, if you have a set, obviously you'd love to stack someone, but most people just won't do it with something like 2nd pair. So, if you think he's got 2nd pair, make him pay to see a showdown. It seems like such a basic concept, but I never really got it until this month. I've also been reconsidering the situations in which I want to c-bet. Oh, and I spent like 3 hours one day with my old calc textbook trying to gneralize the patterns of maximizing EV. I came to some interesting conclusions. I was gonna start a thread on it soon, but I wanted to play around with the numbers a bit more. Just hammering through the equations and trying to come to a conclusion on my own really helped. haha this has been quite a milestone post. |

This is a problem from an old AIME (math contest) that's been bugging me for a while. Hopefully there are some people that are good with stats and can figure this out. The answer is an integer from 0 - 999
"When a certain biased coin is flipped 5 times, the probability of getting heads exactly once is not equal to 0 and is the same as that of getting heads exactly once. Let i/j, in lowest terms, be the probability that the coin comes up heads exactly 3 times out of 5. Find i + j" I've been doing pretty well on most of the other AIME questions but I have no background in combinatorics or anything like that so have at it. Also '1/2 either it does or it doesn't' is not a valid answer |

Meh I know about those guys but I'm curious to see who in uNL can solve it. I think the solutions are online somewhere too.

Oh well, that sounds like a learning experience, but yeah it takes a while to get a hold of proper aggression and ranges to go with the new betting patterns.
I've dropped 40BI this month opening up my game (still in the green tho amazingly enough) |

How is it possible to lose 40 BI and still profit at the end? Did you actually have a 40BI swing or is the 40BI your gross losses?
