And I was expecting worse from the Conan video based upon your two reactions....not that horrible imo, standard Conan interview.

[/ QUOTE ]

yeah, I didn't see anything cringe worthy or anything, and I thought mystery did a really good job

[/ QUOTE ]

agreed...seems like mystery wanted to have an actual discussion and try to explain some of the topics, but conan didn't really give him a chance...

The fat guy was smart though, he picked the two most in shape/least dorky guys there (well, except for the breakdancing) who I'd guess have the best chance of winning future challenges, so he might get immunity in return from them. It really is a stupid concept though, they take 20 minutes of each show to eliminate people when no one cares about who wins, they want to see if this stuff actually works. Those medallions are laughable, someone needs to tell VH1 that they don't have to pattern every show after Flavor of Love.

[/ QUOTE ]

completely agree. I think the show would be better if they didnt have eliminations at all. Since they are all giant dorks they all have the viewer rooting for them, and it would be nice to get the satisfaction of seeing each of them grow and succeed. They could still have a winner or do some kind of stupid points system if they wanna make a contest out of it.

I just don't think its like a survivor or a big brother type show where there are some peopel you hate and some you really like and a whole "game" aspect to it, where there are aliances and all that stuff plays an important role to the viewer and having someone get eliminated plays a huge role in the development of the show and is what makes the show good. In this case what makes the show good is seeing the shy dork you can personally relate to overcome his fears, having them get booted off to fit the mold of every other reality show is pretty dumb, and the 20 minutes spent on the elimination scenes could be better spent elsewhere.

Alobar,

"completely agree. I think the show would be better if they didnt have eliminations at all."

Or at least not until later in the series.

They should have saved elims for the end when they actually could talk to/ pick up women and then eliminate guys who don't pick up a woman, or have the guys all vote on the least attractive girl picked up and banish that dude. That would have been hilarious.

I really want to know about the logistics of filming this. Is the club even real? Why does it often seem so empty? Do the club-goers know they're being filmed for some type of reality show, or are there just standard "you may be filmed" signs outside? If they know it's a show, do they know its nature?

Do each of the guys go in and have a set amount of time alone in there? Were they only allowed to make ONE approach? Are they told beforehand who to approach so as not to approach the same people as the guys who already went?

[/ QUOTE ]

They went to the same club two nights in a row, Foundation Room, right? So I'm sure after the first night word got around after release forms were signed (if that is how it was done) and the ladies got word of what was going on. I think it's also safe to assume that "regulars" who frequent that place already know what's going on from management and other employees. I'd like to believe what we're watching is real and real reactions but I highly doubt it.

Am I the only one who sees the writing that talks about the hidden cameras right before they enter the club each time? Because the last 10 replies have me thinking nobody else sees that!

Reality shows have been known to stretch the truth before. It says hidden cameras and no actors, but you don't have to be an actor to be told that hidden cameras are being used for a pickup show. I don't think so, but then again I never would have guessed that the Man vs Wild guy spent some nights in a hotel room and had props made for him.

I actually think that the reactions have been real (no actors and it's not entirely set up). But I'm sure the women knew that there was a possibilty they were being filmed. I'm also sure the whole place was buzzing about a reality show being filmed there with hidden cameras. Then word got around about the premise of the show, hence the liklihood of the women not being as genuine (good or bad, I'm not sure) as they would be if they trully had no clue that the cameras were there.
