[ QUOTE ]
I don't get why Manning supporters are so over-defensive. [/ QUOTE ] Because the Manning detractors have been, on balance, totally ridiculous up until now. Plenty of people here said that Manning was just a loser who would always choke in the playoffs -- I don't know if you ever said he'd never win a Super Bowl, but I'm pretty sure you were in the 'Manning is a choker' camp. As for why you'd take so much flak for that stance, look at it this way: you're on a message board where statistics are central, yet you had taken a very small sample size and used it to form the opinion that a dominant player had some totally unquantifiable problem (lack of clutchness). A comparable claim about a poker player in one of the strategy forums would be ridiculed into oblivion. |

Yea, but Manning was never a Game Manager until today. Tonight he showed the world how he could win a championship all by himself with his composed hand offs and his determination in willing his team to intercept passes for touchdowns.
Oh yea, and now he's gritty. |

[ QUOTE ]
On a ton of occassions I've been called a "Manning hater." It makes no sense to me. [/ QUOTE ] it might have something to do with "oh, manning is playing poorly in a playoff game, what a surprise" and other posts of the same nature, people tend to remember these things. |

[ QUOTE ] Someone needs to compile all the manning-hater predictions and publicly shame them. [/ QUOTE ] I don't get why Manning supporters are so over-defensive. Ever since I started posting on this forum I have always said that imo Manning is the current 2nd best QB(behind only Brady) and a top 10 and potentially top 5 QB of all time currently. I've also said that if he has a great 2nd half to his career that he could have a shot as the greatest of all time, although I don't envision that happening. On a ton of occassions I've been called a "Manning hater." It makes no sense to me. Yesterday I thought that Manning was the 2nd best current QB and one of the top 10 ever. I still feel the same today. [/ QUOTE ] The problem is your basic statement is nuts...I can't stand Manning but even I know that he is the best QB in the league bar none. Is he the greatest ever...not right now in my view but he def can be if he continues his current rate of performance over the next 5 years. But no logical case can be made for Brady being greater than Manning. Especially given Brady's performance this post season and last postseason. |

[ QUOTE ] There is really no logical argument that Brady>Manning now. [/ QUOTE ] There never was. [/ QUOTE ] Well the Brady crowd had the "clutch" argument and the rings argument. And while that argument is weak, a lot of people buy into it, and atleast the Brady crowd had something. Now they have nothing. |

Assani, if I said :
"Michael Jordan was the 2nd best player of his time, and probably one of the 10 best basketball players ever." Wouldn't you think that is rather ridiculous? |

BTW I don't like Manning or Brady and think Manning is the best current QB, though not as good as Montana career-wise right now. |
