My point is simply that there's a lot more he could do to build this business

evan, im curious why you are this concerned and criticial about 2+2's business model? i can understand LOL's interest since she's the mother of an author. mason seems to be doing quite well and is happy w/ its direction.

post after post by you commenting on the direction the company should take leaves me wondering why? is it just an internet argument-thing or am i missing something?

I think it would be cool if they added some more value to the customers (me). I also am interested in business.

[/ QUOTE ]

Out of sheer curiosity, how much, if anything, would you be willing to pay for added value and what sort(s) of added value would most interest you?

Daver,

No worries, I have some major investments in a number of Web 2.0 companies.

[/ QUOTE ]I'd definitely be willing to sign-up through 2p2 whenever I get a poker account. When setting-up friends, I'd connect them through 2p2, as well. There wouldn't have to be much service provided; it'd mostly be easy pay-back for 2p2 helping me get good at poker to begin with. (Note, this is also the reason why I help-out as a mod where I can.)

Can someone please explain to me how I receive special treatment? If Mason gave a [censored] about me, he wouldn't let me be tarred and feathered by Censored.

(And yes, I could just type [censored] instead of spelling out Censored. But I could also stop using punctuation or capital letters. I type out his name to distinguish between the times I'm calling his name and when I'm name-calling.)

[/ QUOTE ]

Elaine, I share your pain.
I was nominated for the cull by [censored], because I suck at teh interweb.
I didn't respond, and no-one gave a rats arse. You , however, have been in the spotlight now for days.

Damn you [censored], damn you [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

El D, I think if you're looking to diversify, I might have some information about Rust Belt real estate shortly.

I hope Elainemonster wins because [censored] went and banned/temp-banned/exiled me from OOT after my first OOT post. [img]/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

I would pay nothing for it and I should pay nothing for it, that's like asking how much more I'm willing to pay for cable to get better shows; it's not how this business makes money.

As far as what the content should be, blogs, podcasts, WSOP coverage, more focused magazines...a lot of stuff that's already been mentioned. There are others that I've thought of peeviously but I can't remember at the moment and I've had a few adult beverages so I don't think it's going to come to me.

There are a lot of really smart and interesting people that feel indebted (perhaps unreasonably so) to this site. I could name 10 or 20 off the top of my head easily, just out of people that I know personally, who would be more than happy to contribute.

As a student of English literature I would just like to point out how well the OP's post is written. It grips its readers with a bang from the start, develops its points in the middle, and culminates with devastating effect. Gold star for style!

And KaneKungFu's response (following Suzzer99) is probably the funniest thing ever written in these forums and should earn him a "get out of jail free card" should he ever be banned.

So what you're saying is that 2p2 should invest a bunch of time and $$ to give you more for free?

Probably until Mason chooses to make web promotion a larger part of the marketing scheme, it's not in his interest as a businessman to do this.
