There is a rumor on Hoops hype of the Suns shopping either Marion or Amare if they don't beat the Spurs this year. The owner doesn't want to stay too high above the cap and that's going to be impossible if they want to tie down Diaw and the guy from Brazil (can't think of his name).
The idea would be to shop Atlanta's pick + AMare or Marion, maybe for Durant or Oden. Would be interesting for a team to trade for either. I personally would want Amare if I was the owner of the first or second pick. |

Interesting article by Hollinger on how a team's finish to the regular season seems to correlate pretty well to playoff performance.
http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2...%26id%3d2862552 For a quick summary, look at Dirk's pre and post all-star splits and esp his stats in March and April: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/player...s?statsId=3252 |

capone,
It would have to be Marion, he just hasn't pulled his 16 mil/year playoff weight. They gotta be realistic about this though. You can't really expect Nash to play at this level for more than one more year, so the only deal that would make sense to me is the ATL pick+Marion+Diaw for KG |

It was also just a rumor on hoopshype. Marion has been rumored to be traded repeatedly. The only advantage of trading for a rookie + expiring contract is the season after your salary situation will probally be managable until the rookie wants a 'real' deal. |

But if they pulled the deal I think they would want KG to remain, thus they'd have to pay him the big $$, something they are trying to avoid. I think going after Oden or Durant makes a lot more sense, moneywise, to the Suns. Rookies are cheaper.

Mason,
Meh, he was only really bad against Golden State and that was in the first round (where it counts the most!!!) Anyway, his numbers started to decline as Avery started to shave off his minutes. He actually shot a higher fg% post all-star break so it wasn't like he was playing worse down the stretch--he was just not playing significant minutes the last month of the season and had a few 12 point games (or something close) as result. As for April, we all know what happened in April that was just ugly. My biggest gripe about Dirk in the last game of their season wasn't that he went 2-13 but that he took 13 shots and only 3 in the second half. I and most people I know don't have any problem w/ missing shots, that is just human error but only taking 13 shots and 4 in the second half especially when down by 2 at the half is just a lack of effort and that is inexcusable. Guys like Jordan (pick any great actually) had plenty of 6-36 nights in the playoffs during their career but the fact that they were willing to put the outcome of the game on their shoulders and Dirk isn't, he is willing to pass the ball and let others fail. Jordan would shoot until his ball would stop rimming out and would start going in or he would attack attack attack the rim and get 20 from the stripe...he was going to figure out a way to win and that is what was so disappointing to watch from Dirk--not that I think he is on MJ's level or anything, that was just an example. Hornacek, I thought it was understood that Bowan was hated, no need to list him, just more to type. |

BTW, What about Jason Terry + Josh Howard + Jerry Stackhouse for Kevin Garnett? It has been thrown around down here in Dallas, it is of course all rumor and "what if" talk.
The thought is that Dirk can't win a title on his own meaning that you shouldn't build around him but instead get his duo. Dirk + KG would be pretty sick. |

[/ QUOTE ] Loading up the frontcourt at the expense of the backcourt sounds like a Reverse Isiah, don't like it at all. As for Marion, who knows. I'd hate to see him go, it would probably be one of those "we didn't know what we had until it was gone" sorts of things, but I guess there's only one way to find out about this. If and when he gets traded or let go to free agency, it will certainly be because of his massive salary and not any shortcomings on the court or in character. |

I'm trying to figure out how we are discussing "Spurs we hate" and no one has mentioned Bruce Bowen yet. Dude flops and whines like a lil'bitch. Duncan is bearable cuz he's sick. Gaynobili is bad too. [/ QUOTE ] I hate Bruce Bowen with a passion. The most overhyped role player in the league. This guy's on our national team ffs. I also thought that everyone outside of San Antonio despises the spurs. |
