[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Anything is possible. It wouldn't be hard for an officer to bring something to an inmate, because this is how most drugs get in (or through visitation). [/ QUOTE ] I thought it was by mules. The boss requests drugs and one of his men get arrested and bring it in through his ass. [/ QUOTE ] There was a gay guy and his boyfriend visited him every weekend. He smuggled weed in (most likely through his ass), but the guards also play a huge part in the drug smuggling. They are just patted down when entering the facility, so it wouldn't be necessary for them to put it in their ass. [/ QUOTE ] Wow. They are lenient there in Virginia. They use mules in California . . . it's not just a pat down here either. They look in all holes. [/ QUOTE ] They strip search the officers? I'm not sure if you misread my post, or if I misread yours, but I was talking about the guards being patted down. The inmates are obviously strip searched. If the officers in CA are strip searched when coming to work, then I would have to say that is freakin hardcore. [/ QUOTE ] I misread your post. I was referring to the inmates. |

So there is no chance at all of getting the internet in prison?
Or what about a computer? Could you please clarify the money situation too. So if you were relatively well off when you went in, you could bring in all the money you wanted to spend? Could a rich person basically still be a rich person inside? Also, were there many fat people in prison? Obviously some people have to be fat when they get there, but it seems like it would be hard to stay fat. |

Glad to see some fellow convicts in here. I did 16 months in state prison for assault.

Whenever you see mafia memoirs, they often talk about guys sneaking in excellent food and booze, getting to cook all kinds of stuff in their cells, etc. I'm sure Shuge Knight wasn't hurting compared to a lot of prisoners, either. Got any tales of unauthorized perks and rich dudes making prison easier on themselves? |

Hi Layzie,
I read the whole thread, very interesting, thank you for sharing. I wanted to ask you some silly questions, What kind of cell were you in? Was it just bars, could you see/talk to inmates to your left and right, or was it walled 3 ways. Was there a toilet in the cell, a sink? Bunk beds? How noisy was it durings lights out? Good luck on your ongoing recovery, quiting isnt easy |

Very good thread. Couple questions:
I assume you were with your girlfriend while you were using. What did she think of it? When you were at the height of your addiction, could you identify how much damage it was doing? At that point, if you could've just flipped a switch and stopped using, would you have? Thanks |

I think my questions got lost in the shuffle, so I just wanted to give them a bump. If you don't want to answer them for whatever reason, that's cool of course; I don't want to press.
Thanks again for the great thread. [ QUOTE ] Did you ever try to detox yourself (that is, gradually step down your dosage until you were no longer dependent), or did you just go cold turkey? If not, why? Have you ever been to an inpatient detox/rehab? If so, where, and what was the experience like? Are you a member of any support groups, such as NA? If so, how helpful do find them? "So there is no chance at all of getting the internet in prison?
Or what about a computer?" There were two classrooms, and I wouldn't be surprised if they had internet access. But as far as having a personal computer and internet access it's not possible. "Could you please clarify the money situation too. So if you were relatively well off when you went in, you could bring in all the money you wanted to spend? Could a rich person basically still be a rich person inside?" Well, there isn't very much you can buy. A rich person can eat well and be a very good chain smoker. After a TV, a radio, and tapes/CD's, the only thing else really to buy is food and cigarettes. Or drugs. "Also, were there many fat people in prison? Obviously some people have to be fat when they get there, but it seems like it would be hard to stay fat." Plenty of fat people. It's not hard to get fat... sometimes all there is to do is eat, and if you have money on your books you can get plenty of junk food. |

There were no bars, they had a door with a small window on it, that was opened/closed by a control center. You could talk to the cell next to you through the vent but you couldn't see anyone. "Was there a toilet in the cell, a sink? Bunk beds?" Yes, yes, yes. "How noisy was it durings lights out?" It was quiet. This is a key difference between jail and prison. |
