Spoon was just a basket case. The only way he's ever going to meet someone is if he happens to get stuck in an elevator for four hours with a single gal. MAYBE he'll talk to her.

Yeah, that was absolutely 100% standard Conan, he does that sort of thing with everyone.

Standard Interview, though Pollack was being an a-hole. Sure, he was dressed like a goof, but the things he was saying wasn't too out there.
And I felt bad for the Asian kid. He seemed like he could be pimp if he got out of his own head. The show would be INFINITELY better if they got rid of the stupid medallion/elimination/OMGSUSPENSE schtick. |

I really want to know about the logistics of filming this. Is the club even real? Why does it often seem so empty? Do the club-goers know they're being filmed for some type of reality show, or are there just standard "you may be filmed" signs outside? If they know it's a show, do they know its nature? Do each of the guys go in and have a set amount of time alone in there? Were they only allowed to make ONE approach? Are they told beforehand who to approach so as not to approach the same people as the guys who already went? [/ QUOTE ] yeah, I have all the same questions. I would really love to know the answers. Obviously at some point the people have to know they are on TV cuz they all had to sign release forms and stuff, but do they know before hand or afterwards is some PA in charge of going around to all the people and explaining the situation to them. |

And I was expecting worse from the Conan video based upon your two reactions....not that horrible imo, standard Conan interview. [/ QUOTE ] yeah, I didn't see anything cringe worthy or anything, and I thought mystery did a really good job |

alobar,
They can just get club ppl to sign forms before walking into the venue. I don't think they need to tell them specifics. I love how jdawgs or whoever never says anything. Good thing Mystery has two wings! Also, with spoon, he has huge huge huge internal hangups that they don't have time for on the show. They can't get someone like him to fake being good with women...he's a total wreck and can't motivate himself properly b/c talking to women is too too painful in his mind. He seems like he has a deep desire to be loved, however, so I think at some point the pain of feeling lonely will spur him into action. I still think that Brady guy is going to win. The fat guy is never going to be comfortable ramping up sexual interest after establishing attraction in just a few weeks. Yugoslav |

Alobar,
I don't think, in public places, that much has to be done to allow the show to use the footage. Something as simple as posting a sign should cover them. I was in Tunica after Moneymaker won the WSOP. There was something being filmed, I don't know what. IIRC, they just had a sign up that said that anyone in the poker room was automatically giving consent to be filmed. |

The fat guy was smart though, he picked the two most in shape/least dorky guys there (well, except for the breakdancing) who I'd guess have the best chance of winning future challenges, so he might get immunity in return from them. It really is a stupid concept though, they take 20 minutes of each show to eliminate people when no one cares about who wins, they want to see if this stuff actually works. Those medallions are laughable, someone needs to tell VH1 that they don't have to pattern every show after Flavor of Love.
I also think there's a difference though between taping someone for a poker tournament using big obnoxious cameras and wiring up a bunch of guys to secretly tape their interactions with specific people. If you noticed in the first episode, some people in the background had their faces blurred. My guess is they approach people after the filming and ask them to sign a release form, and those that comply get shown on television. |

The medallions serve a dual purpose. They help the actual contestants feel more confident about their progress and help internalize the new stuff Mystery is trying to teach them. And I guess it adds "flair" to the ceremony?! But it's actually going to help them as individuals.
He should have them wear them to bed frankly. Yugoslav |
