i generally tip what ever is between the cost and the next round bill number.

i.e., $12.25 = $15.00

i.e., $14.75 = $20.00

i.e., $26.00 = $30.00

[/ QUOTE ]

this is retarded. for a $46 fare you give $50 (~10%), or do you give $60 (30%)?? i'd hand the cabby $60 and ask for $5 back.

in terms of more realistic examples (that one is like the rarity), for a $19.00 fare you give $20?

weak ass sauce.

I heard once that Tupac Shakur carried ONLY hundred-dollar bills wherever he went and never wanted change. Meaning he paid $100 for $10 of groceries if that was the case. Can anyone confirm or deny?

this thread is proof that some people from the internet should take a class on how society works before leaving the house

True. Many celebs are like this, including Rush Limbaugh.

Rush is always complaining that the McD's doesn't like him to tell the cashier to keep the change when he stops in for his Big Mac.

The comedian and actor Chris Elliott once gave me $30 on a $17-20 pizza-order when I worked for Domino's in high school.

fare was like $10.20 at the most ... I hand the guy $12. He's like "c'mon man you only gave me $11" I say "no way I gave you 12" I grab the money and re-count since he's still holding it up by his head. I count it up and its 12 (2x5 + 2x1) .. take back a dollar bill. "now its 11" and leave.

I waited on Ice Cube when Predator was the #1 album in the country. He got a chili-burger and his date sent back a fruit plate after eating only the melon. Just felt like sharing that.

Esai Morales once drove his girlfriend to a meeting with me. While she was in my office he asked my assistant if he could borrow my Variety and Hollywood Reporter. After the meeting he left with them. Esai Morales bogarted my trades!

Um...don't know anything about LAPoker's work history, but I worked my ass off my whole life for crap money, both in jobs that were tip-based and other grunt jobs, and I still feel that with money, what goes around comes around.

I feel like anyone who has worked service industry will agree with this.

Also my hilarious cab story just because....

I live in Canada and we have dollar and two dollar coins. I had a bunch of them lying around that I wanted to get rid of so I grabbed a bunch on the way out of my house to pay for a cab. At the end of the ride I gave the cabby about 15 bucks on an 8 dollar cab ride.

He says something along the lines of "you must panhandle". I kind of laughed it off and he says, "seriously are you a squeegee kid". I'm kind of pissed and ask if there's a problem. The cabby is kind of losing it and yelling at me so I just ask for my tip back. He says fine how much did you tip? I tell him about 7 bucks. He kind of grumbles and throws some money back at me. I get out and close the door and he puts the window down and yells at me for slamming it and kept calling me a squeegee kid. At this point I get kind pissed and tell him to eff off and just go but he won't stop yelling squegge kid and that im going to be broke when I need to get a real job. I look at my friend laugh my ass off an walk away.

I feel like this story applies to any situation I'm in. I usually tip very well and even if the service is really bad I'll tip 10% but if someone totally [censored] up I have no problem tipping nothing to make a point (they need to [censored] up very bad)

Almost every dealer prefers tips as bets - chance for double the tip!

[/ QUOTE ]

god they're so dumb.

[/ QUOTE ]

Lol it's true though, almost every dealer will tell you they prefer the action.

[/ QUOTE ]
IME (somewhat limited) people tip MORE when they are giving the tips as bets, and therefore the dealers are NOT dumb for prefering this.
