I'm from tucson and I'm sure I could get Bill Ivey to help me for half of what it's worth.

sweet dude. what other irrelevant info do you have?

rofl.

FWIW, each time ive asked to set up a coaching session with snowbank he has done it that night. I ask him for what time he'll be free and then IM him at that time, works a ok for me. My lessons so far with him have been good and he makes it quite clear that you are paying for 4 lessons which has been stated before.

Even before I had the first session with OP, after talking brief poker with him I told him to move down...

After the first session with OP, I told him he should probably drop to 50s...

OP was missing a LOT of basic things with poker...

Snow:

After an hour it became apparent to you that OP wasn't really equipped to be playing NL200 and was really an NL50 player. The exorbitant rate that you charge seems to be in line for an already decent player to move on into excellence. Frankly, after session 1, I don't see how you can in good conscience charge OP 600 more dollars for your coaching services (prepaid or not), as he is nowhere near the level where your type of coaching would become useful. That's 12 buyins more for an NL50 player and that's completely out of whack for what players at that level pay for coaching.

I know that OP is not smelling like a rose here. But, you could have refused him as a student. You seem to be a nice guy, and you have a bunch of people here speaking highly of you, and personally I've always thought of you, based on your time here in SSNL, as a decent guy as well.

Technically, you probably don't owe OP anything. On an ethical, business, and personal level he should get a refund. And IMHO that should be $600, but $450 would probably be satisfactory to him.

Today while I was playing 100NL I realized that some of the players at my table were not very good at poker and that in all likelyhood they were going to lose their money. Yet I carried on playing them and took their money. Does that make me a bad person?

Edit: Not trying to be a dick, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that in business and poker if you have presented a product fairly and correctly then it is up to the buyer to decide wether it is a good investment for them to make.

And these players were looking to you as somebody they could trust for advice and guidance in their poker careers?

Read the edit in my post. I think I misrepresented the point I was trying to make orignally.

LOL. TC, I'm impressed that you've continued to check in on this thread even though it really had nothing to do with you. I hope we can work together at some point in the future.
