I'm starting to get depressed about this sh*t. Without online poker I have no reason to be such a huge slackass, and I hate school. Dammit.

I'm depressed that I was too lazy to play as many hands as I should have over the last year and too chickenshit to move up as high as I should have.

Update: I have just made some important discoveries re: my poker future!

- I have calculated that while making $50/hour is relatively easy multi-tabling online, it is impossible to do in any live game for which I am currently bankrolled.
- The largest games within a 80 mile radius of me, that I am aware of, are $2/$5 NL and between $4/$8 and $6/$12 limit depending on the day of the week. Playing 30 hands/hour at 2/5 NL, I would have to win at 15ptbb to make $50/hour, which may or may not be possible; I'm not sure how the fact that live games are super juicy would affect winrate expectations. Even 2BB per hour (which is pretty generous, right?) at $6/$12 limit is pretty meh.

I think it would be more profitable to stick with trying to bust up shortstacks on Stars.

live games are very easy. you should easily make at least $20 hour if not more while playing.

at least...not saying less. or the max. and you should also be playing for enjoyment as well, money doesnt mean everything. for instance, i think that the atmosphere, etc of live play is an easy compensation for the loss of $ i may have claimed via online.

I don't know how inflated wages are in California, but most burger flippers here in TX don't get much over 5 whole dollars an hour.

FWIW, I don't think 15/PTBB/100 at a 2/5 live game is a very difficult propisition.

Screw KJo , ATo, etc. this is all I ever get with them -

No Limit Hold'em Ring Game (6 max) , 4 players
Blinds : $1/$2

Stacks:
UTG : $129.04
Hero : $216
SB : $289.40
BB : $447.71

Pre-flop: (4 players) Hero is Button with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
UTG limps, Hero raises to $10, 2 folds, UTG calls.

Flop: 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($23, 2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $17, UTG calls.

Turn: 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($57, 2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks.

River: 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($57, 2 players)
UTG bets $52, Hero folds.

Results: (final pot $109)
UTG wins $107

It's probably the same here, I was just musing on how much poker has changed the way I see money; $20/hr used to be a ridiculously high wage for which I would jump at the chance to earn.

The live NL game is far enough away that gas and time constraints would be a really prohibitive factor in terms of getting in anywhere near the same amount of hours in, as well.

I personaly don't see a way I can make the same live in a safe situation. There is one legal cardroom in Texas, and its a 2 1/2 hour drive from me. To top it off, they don't spread a NL game except on the weekends.

There are plenty of smaller home games here, but then I run the risk of running into a shady sitaution. I know that anyone who is winning at NL25 would probably murder these games however because the play is absolutely atrocious.

If online poker goes down, I'll have no choice but to find a job again. And like you, the prospect of working 40 hours a week to pull in a fraction of what I make now "working" far fewer hours just about makes me want to puke.
