Yeah, I think this rates about with a bad breakup on the crisis-o-meter. Fortunately I have some money saved up and it isn't my only job -- I feel bad for the kids that dropped out of college to play cards and stuff. Also, I didn't really see myself playing internet poker for 15 hours a week when I was 40, so if this happened sooner than expected, it was perhaps only by a year or two.

Not that this is necessarily The End of The Poker Boom. I certainly lean toward the pessimistic side in terms of what effect this will have on one's ability to make sick money from playing poker, but there is a lot of uncertainty as to how this all plays out on the enforcement side.

Nate, can you please expand? In other words, could you please make your best guess about what you think this means to those people that were expecting to make a living playing internet poker. Thoughts that you have on enforcement as well as work arounds would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know. I did whatever I could to educate myself on the poltical/legislative side of the process but I don't think anyone can really predict whether it will be easy, difficult, or outright impossible for a US citizen to make money playing poker online for the next X period of time.
