I feel the need to bring a little levelheadedness to this thread. Those of you projecting 2 bracelets a year for Madsen are a little off.
The fact of the matter is that: 1) Madsen did not play all of the events at the start of the WSOP, due to bankroll restrictions. 2) There are still several events left! 3) Variance. I think it's completely possible that, if not for bad luck, he would have won the Pot-Limit Omaha title. If not for variance, he'd likely be a 3-time bracelet winner now! Add all that up, and I think it's conservative to project Madsen's career at something like 2.5-3 bracelets per year. This could, of course, be amended upwards if the WSOP continues to expand the number of events. Remember - he's a young man and has the stamina to play expertly day after day! |

[ QUOTE ] Diablo I had a piece of two people in the SAME wsop final table this year. Part of being a good tourney player is knowing when to buy/swap pieces of other players who are going to win, because no money is better than money others earn for you. How many of the guys on your list consistently produce like that? [/ QUOTE ] Are you trying to argue that you are better then Doyle, Hellmouth and the rest of the legends that El Diablo offered? You've won like what, one tournament? I know you're a good player but I think you need to learn some respect. Does anyone think Schneids belongs on this list? [/ QUOTE ] Plus I almost forgot, none of these other guys have a rap song composed about them. I have street cred too. |

Cornboy,
For someone with 30 posts, you are quite estute. Excellent post! I am rather let down that El Diablo did not make some of those points. |

[/ QUOTE ] mlag: Don't feel bad, it's hard to beat a collusion team at the peak of their game. TO JEFF MADSEN: I can't believe you came up in here on OUR turf bragging about how great you are at tourneys...How can you even THINK about putting yourself in the same CLASS as Doyle Brunson or Freddy Deeb who just play donkaments for fun, and are really high STAKES cash game players unlike yourself. You must be really full of yourself right now, but maybe if you have the cojones (balls) you'll come find me at the Rio this weekend so I can take you to a little place called Variancetown. D-d-d-d-d-d-d-damn! Also, I'd like to challenge everyone of you internet geeks in this thread to play ME headsup k thx, especially nath who is a luckflap of the highest odor and TWP who is just mean. Except also we should play MIXED games, not just silly Texas, how about SPARERIB: Stud-hi, Padugi, ARm-wrestling, Riverdown, English Lit, Rochambeau, fIvecard-stud and Beerbowling. Can you hantle it? |

Cornboy: Outstanding points. I did not want to bias the poll results early on by showing that type of analysis that clearly illustrates a minimum of 2.5-3 bracelets per year average for Madsen, and quite probably a lot more.
u: "And remember, people have won back-to-back WSOP's before and do they have 50 bracelets yet?" fsduck said all that needs to be said about that. To get lucky once a year twice in a row is not that big a deal. Luck is a big part of poker. However, to come in and dominate the way Madsen is doing and will obviously continue to do for many years, is the true mark of a legendary champion. What Madsen has over those other guys is the perfect combination of both consistency and championship killer attitude. He reminds me a lot of Michael Jordan, Lance Armstrong, Wayne Gretzky, and Tiger Woods. Schneids: IIRC, the tournament event you won is a limit holdem event, ie: pure luck. Once you do something in a real NLHE poker tournament, perhaps you'll be worthy of consideration. |
