Yes, it is foolish to play at a site that adopts considered policies with the goal of avoiding massive legal liability and the discerning interest of courts, enforcement officials, regulatory bodies and, oh, Congress. There must be a forest in here somewhere, but I can't seem to find it behind all these trees.

By the way, Party's terms and conditions state that disputes with them can only be heard in Gibraltar--and in their pre-IPO prospectus they say that their Girbralter lawyers told them it was ok to say this. Funny thing is, US courts get to decide if their Gibralterese lawyers are correct. [Hmm, didn't Californian's sue Nike for unfair labor practices in Vietnam? Oh, that's different, because it's legal to sell Nike's shoes in California. Oh wait.]

[/ QUOTE ]

I find it amazing that alot of people on this site don't seem to understand these basic points.

Let's see, is there perhaps an incentive to get heads-up if you know you will have to make no additional decisions and risk no additional money once you get there? Does this incentive have an effect on your equity in the game perhaps?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I see it can help some weak players to play tougher, thus increasing their equity (btw, I have never done this and do not want to legitimize it either).

I'm in, but only as long as if we shoot someone we only have the bullets confiscated and not the guns.

I guess that I'll have to go to the synogogue on Saturday so I can hear my rabbi discuss why jews are good at poker. Hmmmm I haven't been attending services lately - maybe that explains why I keep getting knocked out on the bubble.

I can't believe that this is my first post in this thread.

something just occurred to me - my roommate and i often play the same tournaments on PS and UB, and we have last-longer bets. we play 2 floors apart (his computer is in the basement), and we don't collude. but we probably have the same IP address, right? are they going to try and nail us?

actually, i could probably point out the fact that we often play heads-up games against one another too. multi-accounting one of those is clearly -EV, lol.

do you think ZJ played heads-up tourneys against his other accounts to practice against himself? i hear he can be tricky.

he's not talking about ZJ. this has been discussed at length, it's about stars cash games.

[/ QUOTE ]

In SNGs it would be horrible cheating, in cash games I really can't see what harm it does.

[/ QUOTE ]

You must be joking.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, not joking. If two of my opponents decide that whenever they are left heads up in a pot in a cash game they check down, I can't see that it hurts me or any other players in that game. Enlighten me.

[/ QUOTE ]

Because they know each others cards, which gives them a huge advantage over everybody else.

A. They know that certain cards are dead, giving them a much better idea of the true odds.

B. They can decide to only play the best of the two hands between them.

C. They can coordinate their betting to hold back and deny you the odds to make a draw.

etc.

[/ QUOTE ]

I assumed if they did not see each others cards. Anyway, no big deal, I realize you guys are right that it is not ok.

"I do hate myself, but it has nothing to do with being Jewish" - Woody Allen/Larry David

[/ QUOTE ]

Shaniac,

I remember Larry David saying that in CYE, but was that line used by Woody Allen as well, or were you just not sure who said it?

[/ QUOTE ]

The line appeared earlier in one of Woody's films, but I can't remember which one. For all I know it's an older Jewish-comedian's riff, and yes it appeared more recently in the CYE "Trick or Treat" episode.

All persecuted races are good at poker. Which is why being a WASP is -EV.
