No one has brought iu up yet, but how ridiculous was the DiFelice sacrafice? I thought Willie topped himself when he didn't use Castro to PH in that game a few weeks ago and ended up having to PH Glavine in the 9th. But he reached new levels when he sacraficed with the 8 hitter.
1st of all bunting off a pitcher who has walked the 1st 2 in an inning is always stupid. You give him an out and an open base to work with for a guy who isn't throwing strikes, yeah genius. But with the pitcher coming up next, are you [censored] kidding me? Yeah you don't want a DP so Reyes gets a chance but you are that unconfident in DiFelice's hitting abuility that you sacrafice here?, jesus christ. |

The exclamation point didn't do what I thought it was going to do. And I know he hasn't been throwing as hard as usual all year, but he topped at 94 tonight. This is a guy that hit 98 with some consistency just a year ago. I never know if the gun was just fast last year and fixed this year or...well all those wierd variables. But its been like that on all the guns in the league.

I was just thinking, considering the Mets faced Peavy, Young, and Penny in the past 4 games and they went 2-2 in those games. That really isn't that bad considering.

[/ QUOTE ] It's a nice way to look at it but the Mets scored too many runs in the 4 games to feel good about going 2-2. Especially when leading a game after 8. |

Eh, the team looks very good right now. They let one game slip through their fingers but they beat up on Hoffman twice as well. I'm very optimistic, hell the Phillies look like they are in freefall and the Braves haven't looked great. Mets have a chance to bury the Phils over the next week. Turning this race into a 2 team race in September could be huge.

^^yea, it's not a bad result looking bad, just a few tough losses due to the frustrating and continuing crappiness of our bullpen and that is weighing on us a lot i bet
