A point I've made elsewhere (in the thread about Peachy's account being hacked).

This is from an IRC chat to save me the effort in retyping.

[06:38] <B_Dids> the thing that party/stars lack
[06:38] <B_Dids> is software that does simple idiot tests
[06:38] <B_Dids> "this person just logged in from Cali, how can they log in from NY 20 minutes later"
[06:38] <B_Dids> "6 accounts just logged in from the same subnet at the same time"
[06:39] <B_Dids> and at a min- that should automate a "check this out" email to party/stars
[06:39] <B_Dids> and in the former case, should just shut things down alltogether in order to investigate things.

The thing I can't understand is why someone who's obviously good enough to win a ton of money playing poker needs to cheat to try and win even more. I could almost understand the motivation if it was a sucky player who'd lose otherwise.

It seems to me that in these days of the internet, where so much interaction is anonymous, a lot of people think it's ok to try and get away with as much as possible regardless of the ethical consequences. It's easier to steal when you can't see who you're stealing from (and they can't see you).

That, and there is a culture today of blaming the victim and not taking personal responsibility for one's actions. I cheated on PartyPoker? Well, they shouldn't have made it so easy for me to cheat! I stole $400 when Party mistakenly gave everyone a cruise cabin? They shouldn't have made that dumb mistake!

EL Diablo--You seem like a smart guy. However, your suggested confiscation "policy" is dumb. It would expose the policy enforcer to bad things. There is a reason that the US Constitution includes the right to "due process." It is important. Would you like to be an "illegal" gaming enterprise defending punitive confiscatory measures against in an "unfair business practices" suit in a US court? I didn't think so. (Hint: It could really hurt your stock value.) So feel free to play at Stars--Party's having bad lawyers is not a good reason to support their site.

Edit: I directed my post to El Diablo because I respect him and he is an influential member of these forums. Others have signed on to criticism of Lee Jones' post re Stars' policy regarding "cheaters." As would be expected, Stars' approach is generally correct and Party's is deeply flawed. With respect to posts about the "ironclad" nature of Partys' terms and conditions: LOL.

he's not talking about ZJ. this has been discussed at length, it's about stars cash games.

[/ QUOTE ]

In SNGs it would be horrible cheating, in cash games I really can't see what harm it does.

[/ QUOTE ]

You must be joking.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, not joking. If two of my opponents decide that whenever they are left heads up in a pot in a cash game they check down, I can't see that it hurts me or any other players in that game. Enlighten me.

[/ QUOTE ]

Because they know each others cards, which gives them a huge advantage over everybody else.

A. They know that certain cards are dead, giving them a much better idea of the true odds.

B. They can decide to only play the best of the two hands between them.

C. They can coordinate their betting to hold back and deny you the odds to make a draw.

etc.

I don't want to see his life ruined. I think a fair punishemt would be to have him go a match against Mike Tyson... or no, against 6 Mike Tysons.

OOT didn't help with my out of date T-Shirts either

All I want to know is if they'll sell with the modifications

I love the check boxes in yours, they make me "LOL"
