So in other words, the A&E crowd needs to be forced to stick around in OOT for the sole benefit of the fart/sex/etc crowd, but screw the A&E crowd's own needs?

Let's see how many posts there are on the front page you do not like:

Poop: 0
Sex/Sexually related: 5
etc: the rest of the page. Care to define why you don't like reading "etc"?

You really don't know what happens in OOT do you? I mean, I am no expert, but, for example, the paralyzed thread is a result of good OOTing, it isn't all poop/sex jokes like you would hope it to be. God forbid the film reviews would have to be read next to a thread on "Ask a paralyzed person" or "Should I read my GF's email".

This place would be a lot drier without it, and it would be a shame to see it go. I tend to think that dispersing heavy chunks of the content that the more thoughtful posters seem to gravitate to is a step in that direction.

Heaven forbid the adolescents obsessed with banging myspace chicks, wanking, farts, the slights of their friends & families, etc., should be left cold and alone in OOT.

You honestly have no idea what you are talking about dude.

Hence, why moving Politics to it's own forum was the single best move in the history of (O)OT.

This is the part a lot of us don't get. What you are saying is, there aren't enough of you to keep a particular topic you like on the front page, so you want your own forum? I don't know what else you mean by "A&E crowd's own needs." That doesn't seem like a good enough reason to start a new forum, to me.

It's about total traffic across 2+2. You would gain traffic on A/E topics and lose traffic in OOT. I don't know which number would be greater. There's only one way to find out, and we're probably going to find out.

Singly the best explanation why the split is an unwarranted decision.

Now you're just being a jerk. If you don't like those threads, DON'T READ THEM. And post more in the threads you DO like. Then they'd be more popular and you wouldn't be crying for your own forum.

You're missing the point. The risk isn't that this would happen just in OOT, but that the good, intelligent posters would stop showing up altogether and then all you're left with is the crew you described. Now go back to trolling ZeeJustin related threads, please.

also keep in mind that many of the older and better strategy posters now frequent OOT more than the strategy forums, and may stop visiting 2+2 altogether if OOT starts sucking royally, which it needs no encouragement in the form of another forum split to do. the real trainwreck here would be the harm this split may cause to the strategy forums, not what may happen to (O)OT and its spinoffs. this is still a poker forum, right?

I vote in favor of a split. It's not as if OOT will be dead afterwards...
