[ QUOTE ]

This is a situation which mandates a large deterrence effect. PokerStars' decision is beyond absurd. If you let people knowingly cheat and then you give them any of their money back, then you are not deterring future cheaters.

PokerStars' high-profile decision to let ZJ keep his money is as much of a risk to online poker as any US Congress legislation. Because this story will continue to spread for a long, long time. In 10 years, I'll be walking into Lake Charles card rooms and hearing people talk about it.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think it anyone believing Pokerstars being a haven for cheaters is deluded. Who would risk entereing several accounts into a MTT knowing that what you win might be taken away? It turns what is a +EV thing into a giant -EV thing to start with (assuming Pokerstars will have an effective way to check for this, which isn't that hard).

And if the sites have no effective ways to check for this, the deterrence is low both at Party and Stars.

all that you have said in this thread has been said 20 times already in the thread dedicated to the situation.

[/ QUOTE ]

Then why is nothing being done to properly deal with this situation? We, in fact, govern what Party/Stars can do, believe me. If we stand up and say its too harsh they will listen to what we say. Its too harsh.

It is not too harsh. I ask you this: what if you are the guy who finished second to his first when he cheated, do you feel the same when you lose 50k due directly to his cheating?

Its simple party should take zee and jj's money and spend it toward improving their security

[/ QUOTE ]

That's hillarious. Party makes hundreds of millions in profits. That should be enough to improve their security.

By the way, how many ZeeJustin's do you think exist out there? You know he spends all day on chatrooms and such so he's gotta be sharing these cheating techniques with others.
I wonder if he was AIMing and 6-playing with other guys and splitting money.

I'm a softie I guess, but I'd like to see him give us all some $$$ personally or something and give him a chance to make it right.

Its ok to believe in second chances and redemption, etc. But in Baseball there is a 'Death Penalty'. If you bet on Baseball, in any form or fashion, you are gone forever, no second chances.

Since 1919, Baseball has had to admit that their game WAS crooked, but that they had cleaned it up, and now the penalty for even the impression of impropriety is so severe as to foreclose almost any chance of a player betting on baseball ever again. (e.g. Pete Rose, who only bet on other games, that his team was not involved in.)

In order for poker to be taken seriously by all the weekend players, and once a month homegamers, and the folks who flock to PS and PP to try to win a seat at teh WSOP, Poker must be so scrupulously clean that there will never be any questions.

Otherwise, ESPN and Travel Chanel etc. will not support it, and the whole thing crashes as a house of cards.

That is what is at risk, and we are all riding this wave base on our skill, or luck or whatever. But if the mainstream press got wind of a real cheating syndicate at teh WSOP, the Poker would be destroyed, lose all credibility and never recover. (look at boxing).

So, the bottom line should be, if you cheat you are done, no WSOP, no WPT, no Europoker tour, no TV events, etc.

Todd

of course it's true...no details...changed setups 4 times in 15 minutes...always a deuce was nailed. I was the only dealer to catch them and was berated by every stinking player in the game. Screw thieves...I got no use for them...nor most of you idiots that think dealers are monkeys...you'd be broke if it werent for dealers like me.
