Are we even certain the forum has become worse? Isn't it only natural that as players move up and become better and better this forum becomes less and less usefull. So that people who are now very good don't find it as usefull as it used to be, doesn't mean it has become so much worse.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. You say that the only reason posters left is because they didn't find the forum useful. Yet, they would clearly find a forum useful or this thread wouldn't exist. So that leads me to think that this forum must be worse than it used to be, or else there wouldn't be the need for a separate one.

IMO the forum has gotten worse. I definitely don't remember all the OT and "Should I fold KK here?" posts when I first joined 2+2. I guess all I was saying is that whatever the advocates for a high stakes forum would post there, they could just post here it seems.

Really, it doesn't matter to me if this one splits or not because I will just read and even post on both.

A much more useful split in my opinion, would be a "STT: Hands" forum and a "STT: Social" forum.

I have no problem seeing hands from $1.45 turbos to $2k step 5s being posted. The ones that merit debate will naturally stay near the top few pages and the ones with cut and dry answers will naturally die after a few replies.

What is needed isn't a split, but rather an efficient way to ignore certain threads. I'd really like a tick box next to each thread that, once selected, would mean that I never again see that thread. It wouldn't take too much effort to periodically go through and "check all" then uncheck the few threads that are of interest. In this way, the forum could be exactly what each user wants -- except that each user would periodically have to spend a few minutes molding it to their desires.

I like this idea. As much as I love this forum, I think there are a lot of flaws with the way things work.

Of course, some of this stuff would require major upgrading of the site. And if Sklansky is reading, I would be willing to help do this for lower than my normal rate.

Everything cool gets worse to the people who were originally blown away by it. It's just human nature. Doesn't mean it's not still great for the newbies like me.

I'm not saying that this forum isn't *actually* getting worse. It could very well be. But it would have to be constantly getting *better* at an exponential rate to keep everyone happy forever.

I'm saying they don't find it as usefull anymore maybe because they have progressed as players, not because the forum has cahnged.

When someone first starts playing poker, info about hand strength/pot odds/implied odds are really helpfull to read about, when you are a winner at 10/20 NL not so much probably. It doesn't mean the stuff you first read about hand strength/pot odds/implied odds has somehow become worse, just not usefull for you anymore.

Thats what I meant. Wether this is the case or not for ZJ/Degen and this forum, I really don't know.

Cool, yeah I got you.

I still don't understand why they need a separate forum to talk about whatever it is they have to talk about now.

Like I said though, it doesn't much matter to me. I will just visit both like 99% of the posters here will.

I don't believe curtains is on the fence. He has consistently been against splitting the forum. I think he is just saying that maybe it should be considered if there is so much support for it.

Yeah, I mean the vote is over 200 to 130. I think it should be split based on this and it might be interesting.

I guess I am just biased because a) I know what limits I play and b) I know where the clutter would end up.

I dont think clutter would be too big an issue. Look at the front page, it is almost all hands dealing with hands under $33. Split it or not, I do not think it would make much difference.

If only this were the norm... I'd have stayed out of this all together.
