If someone made a disrespectful comment to my girlfriend in a poker room and I stepped in she would be angrier with me then she would be with the idiot making the comments.

The poker room is the office. There should be no distinction between genders in how you act. Those two are supposed to be professionals and should understand that.

Chad's actions pretty much told everyone (not intentionally I am sure) that he knows Vanessa is weak and needs his protection from a fairly mild verbal assault. Sad for everyone involved but mostly for Vanessa. Her boyfriend sees her as weak and her actions at the table show (once again) that her emotions seem to consistently override any smarts that she has.

honestly berating other players seems like a part of the live tourney game. hellmuth berates people in every tournament he plays and he's considered one of the "good guys" in poker. sometimes the talking at the tables can be used to manipulate players in the future and i think that's why many of the good players do it (i don't think that was the case in this incident).

if you can't handle someone saying something about your (or your gf's) game then you shouldn't be a professional poker player.
