[ QUOTE ]
Some of you that find this funny keep in mind that you are laughing at a nice guy who unfortunately has a severe gambling addiction and is pissing his life away. Those that encourage him are really sick.

[/ QUOTE ] Dean, it's very warming that you care, but honestly, don't worry. I am fine. I don't feel *much* regret and the rare times I do feel bad about it, I stop caring soon afterwards. I also nearly always get my [censored] together the next day and start grinding to make up what I lost. I have been playing online since last night and I've already made back 1k of it. I'm not addicted to gambling. This is my personality. I am just kinda crazy. I do everything like this.

Kurosh, how many gambling addicts do you think believe they don't have a problem? I want to refer to a quote you made in

[/ QUOTE ] this famous thread.

[/ QUOTE ]

[ QUOTE ]

Come back when you know what you're talking about. I'm no where near going broke and I think my discipline in stepping down in limits shows that I never will be. For the record, this is the first time I've gone on tilt in a long time.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yet the cycle keep repeating itself. You seem unable to avoid pissing your winnings away. What is particularly worrying is that you are now 'pro' and discipline is key here. If you do insist on playing poker you should get a job so you are busy and fulfilled during the day, and so that you have a steady income coming in. Do not use your wage to fund your poker. This way you are free to play way above your bankroll and if you lose most/all of your money you are still set. Why not stick it out at 5/10 for a while? You should do this both for bankroll reasons and because you still have plenty of holes in your game and if you are going to move up you should do so when you have as big an edge as possible (making huge downswings followed by Kurosh tilt less likely). There is no reason you can't easily pull in $100 an hour, especially playing on a site that offers you 100% rakeback. I know that $100 doesn't seem that much when you've doubtless made $2K in an hour before, and when you read posts by people like Baronzeus (who you probably think is not much better (if at all) at poker than you) who makes $100,000 k on a good day - however $100 is a sensational wage, especially for someone your age and with no qualifications. Don't get greedy.

I really don't know how to handle this because it is blazingly obvious to me and others that you have a serious problem but you won't admit it (even to yourself) and I don't see how to convince you. The amount of money you are losing in these sessions is significant. One day I hope you meet a wonderful woman who you wwant to spend the rest of your life with and you are going to need a house to live in and if you have children you are going to want the best for them. At that point don't you think you are going to regret tilting away $100,000? Don't you think you will regret the extra money that $100,000 could have enabled you to earn? If the answers to these questions are 'yes', and they should be, why not do something about now?

Question Kurosh - what makes you think that the pattern that has exhibited itself throughout your poker career - i.e. go on a heater, move up the stakes, play above your bankroll, run bad/lose some of your roll, go on tilt/lose more of your roll - won't repeat itself? What has changed?

I know several people with addictive personalities, and for the most part they do fine. But they stay the hell away from Casinos.

Whether you call it an addiction, or just say 'it's my personality' doesn't matter. The behavior you've repeatedly displayed for quite some time now leads to financial ruin. You play above your head. You are susceptible to tilt, and even more likely to play above your head when on tilt. You rationalize away blatant and costly errors in judgement (I'm not talking about poker strategy here), you chase your losses, you play -EV games in an effort to chase your losses, and you seem inable to admit that any of this is a significant problem.

This is at best extremely detremental behavior, and at worst a gambling addiction. You need to quit poker.

That if I played live poker I would be taking advantage of the degenerates? Or that if I played live I would see people laughing at them?

If you play, live or online, you are taking advantage of them. Playing live just forces you to catch a glimpse of it.

EDIT: Going further, if you geniunely have problem with Kurosh because you think he's a gambling addict, you're on thin ice playing at all.

Dave,

I think there is a world of difference between taking advantage of someone with a problem (esp. when if you didn't, someone else would), and encouraging them.
