I would absolutely ask as well as trying to free my friends. Why would they be mutually exclusive.

indeed. it's not like they're like "i will do one thing for you if you do my surgery," jack has leverage, he can ask for more than one thing. i'm guessing if he asked for an iced tea *and* his friends free he could get both! also note, he didn't negotiate for anything except "let me off the island" before agreeing to do the surgury.

i don't see why it's so clear "they won't tell him or they'll lie," or why he can't ask for anything he wants like say, "i would like to make a phone call," or some [censored] like that. ASK FOR ANYTHING GOD DAMNIT is my point.

also, yes, i knew to expect that from the show and yet still managed to be upset about it, because as pointed out by another, it's really freaking stupid and they never address it well, even though it keeps coming up.

I dont really beleive much of anything these two say, in fact in a way the more I listen to them the less I want to watch their show. Why they do interviews and podcasts when they have such disdain for the listeners is beyond me, although I realise as I listen more a lot of it is tounge in cheek I still think they are arrogant arseholes.

Agreed if I was Jack I would totally ask the Others many questions before telling them to let Kate go..

like...
Who are you guys and what are you doing here?
What is the meaning behind my tatoo's?
How did Locke get in a wheelchair?
What is that 4 toed foot statue thingie...its craazy?
Why did Mr. Eko have to die?
Why is Hurley not losing any weight?
Whats with those two new characters and why are they having sex in my tent..so not cool?

etc etc

After all those questions were answered then I'd be like..oh yeah can u let my friends go.

obviously many of these questions would have been better asked of ben, prior to surgury, rather than during his 1 hour time slot.

Wow, if those spoilers really indicate the basis for the numbers, I'm starting to lose hope that the writers of the show know what they're doing.

I've found Lost to be a lot better in consistency terms, but BSG has hit some pretty major high points here and there. Most notably in the entire first series and since then they've been very daring with plotlines much of which has worked out. The previous episode was awesome and got me psyched again after not being entirely convinced with this third season.

Do we have a BSG weekly thread? I agree it should have one and certainly deserves a lot of views. The first series is right up there as some seriously great TV and of course there are many episodes beyond that which are similarly good. I bet if a BSG thread was started people would participate. I disagree, before approaching Kate about going to see Jack, Juliette is talking with the big guy and says the schedule has been moved up two weeks. I think they're working on something for sure.

As for the whole 3 month break. I think while it is better than what we got last year, a straight 24-esque season starting in January would be best. I think the first block of episodes we're good tv as a whole, with the exception of the introduction of the new characters, which was horrible.
