I need to lose 50lbs. I am 26, 6'3 270. If there is someone else out there with similiar desires and would like to make a wager in the 5000-10000 range, let me know. This would be SOME incentive for me to actually get healthy. And it would be fun. We could keep a running thread on our progress, and if neither one of us lose the 50lbs. OOT gets all the money.. could be interesting. This thread is too long to go back into, so if you want to accept the challenge, PM me. |

[ QUOTE ] it has to be relatively natural and they cannot get gastric bypass or meth or any BS like that. Excersize, eat less and/or healthier. [/ QUOTE ] What about doing coke off a strippers ass? [/ QUOTE ] Of course this is fine, I am just saying do not make this part of your daily diet. |

I'm more of a reader than an active OOTiot, but I'll throw my oversized hat in the ring.
I'm 35, 6'6", 397 lbs. At least that's what it was in April when I had a physical, and it's not like I've shrunk since. I need a good kick in the [censored] to get going. I eat too much and especially too much of the wrong stuff. I get little to no exercise. I have a high-stress job. I consume way too much caffeine. Add those up, it's not pretty. I've been 'obsese' (by the medical definition) for at least 20 years, and morbidly so for almost all of that time. I've been down in the 250-275 range two or three times, but have never been able to make it stick. I'm very lucky to have good genes and have never had a major health problem as a result of being this large, but one is definitely coming on -- it's affecting my ability to sleep, and if you can't sleep, you can't function. I figure I can lose fifty pounds at least by cutting out the Coca Cola and fast food. Add some exercise (probably just in the form of walking) and better eating habits -- I'm not anti-vegetable, I'm just lazy, and I'd like to get down to 250 again. Eventually. Here's a crappy picture. I don't have one with my current weight (no scale), but I can get one when I see the doc again in a couple weeks. He wanted me to lose 20 lbs before my next visit, and if I get started this week, it might happen.

I'm 6'3" and around 255, and I want to be around 215. If I just cut fat to 215, that'd be about 13% body fat (I have a fairly big frame and I'm reasonably strong; I'm the fattest guy at my rock-climbing gym.) I also just found out my blood-pressure's higher than it was before, and needs to get back down to the usual 120/70-80ish range.
If I'm not either below 220 or below 13% body fat by Jan 01, 2007 I'll match half of Bison's action up to a total of $250 contributed. Payment on the first 100lbs takes priority. I'd match the whole thing, but I just screwed up a rotator cuff and I think I'm stuck with dieting (not much exercise) for the first couple months of this. That's never been my strong suit. I'm not sure I like my chances, but this will get me working. |

I don't think you inabiltity to sleep has anything to do with your size. I'm way smaller than you and I can't sleep

I personally have it, and its largely related to weight loss. Size doesn't necessarily cause sleep apnea however; if you are having trouble sleeping, get it checked out, that could be an issue. |

I'll get on this getting in shape train. I'm 6'0" tall and weigh 166 pounds. I do not plan on joining a gym this summer, so my plan will have to be primarily running in the morning, pushups, maybe a few crunches, and maybe rope jumping if I find one in my garage.
