Well, I stopped paying attention when it was 4-1 figuring a 3 run lead vs the Padres (who are more metlike than the mets) was like a 10 run lead vs another team. The Mets who blow few leads, naturally blow this one but then come back against great pitching, go figure. Lets go Mets!

One thing I read this morning that I didn't catch last night...118 pitches for Maine, and finally chased from the game on a run scoring triple after already having given up a HR and a double in the inning.

This guys is clearly hitting a wall, running into a tired arm period...whatever you want to call it. He hasn't been sharp, and I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that it's because he's in uncharted territory in terms of IP and pitches.

I know our 6th inning bullpen arms aren't anything to write home about, but I worry about pushing Maine to so many pitches when he's already showing signs of wearing down.

I actually felt encouraged by Maine's performance. Some of his struggles yesterday, I felt, were attributable to the weather and to an umpire with a pretty tight strike zone.

I think he may be slowly turning the corner, and I predict that his next start will be very reassuring.

Hope you're right. I didn't see his actual performance, so I was just commenting on the pitch count/situation.

ya i was watching and maine wasnt bad at all. he had good control but the ump just wud not give him outside corner strikes. also the triple was a ball that shuda been caught and shudnt have been more than a single anyway. alou had a bad jump on it and then he slipped and it got behind him.
