Another very close game. Astros grind out a win.
One thing I noticed about Carpenter, he's alot like Oswalt in that even when he's clearly off, he still holds his opponents to 3 or 4 runs and gives his team a chance to win. |

ugh....4 loses in a row...this is entering unacceptable conditions 17-12 [/ QUOTE ] Good game. But you better go show some love for MLB RBI-leader Lance Berkman in the thread I started! I don't know why Lidge threw Rodriguez three straight sliders. I agree that the way to attack him is inside soft, but I think he should have went high (like shoulder high) fastball on 0-2 to change his eye level, and maybe get him to hack at it. But Ausmus made the right calls by not calling a slider (or especially heat) on the outer half of the plate. Rodriguez has + power and could easily have lofted one of those pitches into the crawford boxes. Little disappointed in Willy T's fielding error... the third strike called on Ensberg in the 8th was about 2 to 2-1/2 inches low. |

If Moises Alou can clearly fake losing the ball in the ivy, and Remlinger throws at Berkman's head, and Barrett can run his mouth like a punk, I got no problem with Berkman faking it. That was hilarious. |

yeah...
Berkman pissed the Cubs off enough that year that they made the playoffs I won't forgive Berkman for inspiring the Cubs to a playoff appearance. Even though the choke job was quite hilarious with Bartman, Prior, and Wood. |

The Berkman fake HBP and Oswalt/Barrett incidents happened in late 2004. That was the series that kind of sparked the Astros' 2004 stretch run to the playoffs, and the Cubs nosedived from there on out. |

You guys beat us anyways though. Hell of a series. Games 6 & 7 really hurt.
Damned Edmonds. Based on current events I see that Miceli hasn't lost his knack for giving up bombs though. Was so glad to see that stiff leave. The minute they brought him in I knew he would blow it. |
