Yeah I saw that. Certainly not my first choice of attire if I'm walking into the mayor's office to turn myself in for multiple executions.

i know tipping is such a tired subject here but i didnt want to post in OOT.
there has been alot of discussion about tipping a percentage on expensive bottles of wine. like when the wine costs 3x as much as the meal, it seems weird to tip a percentage of the total bill. the few times ive been in this situation i discounted the tip. my waiter friend says thats not fair to the waiter, since they usually have to 'tip out' to the other staff as a percentage of his total sales, so he gets shafted when this happens. being the argumentative guy i am, i told him that he shouldnt blame the people who dont tip as much as he thinks they should, but blame the system he works under. he says this system is in place everywhere so he can't help it. anyone care to respond? thanks |

[/ QUOTE ] He's semi-lying. That system is in place some places and it is retarded. Other places do the tip out as a portion of your tips. Small places you just tip out whatever you feel is appropriate. I agree, 15% on an expensive bottle of wine is retarded, especially when the wine has already been marked up 100% (or more). |

I think if you're talking about an $80 of wine, just tip the extra $10 or whatever. Why haggle over that if you can afford an $80 of wine? Although if you get into the $4000 I can see 15% to the waiter getting a little ridiculous. But then again if you can afford a $4000 of wine...

I saw Amy Poehler (and her semi-famous husband) out Friday night. We don't get many famous Hollywood sightings in Boston, so that was cool.
we sat 1 table over from them, and she was really good looking. better looking in person than on TV maybe. also we had the same waiter, and he sad she was super nice, unpretentious, etc. the waiter was taking our dessert order when she was walking out, and she went out of her to thank him, etc. btw we were at Oleana in Cambridge, here is the dinner menu, place is great. great value for one of the best restaurants in the Boston area. |
