actually, i think Nxd5 is also possible.

Isn't 7. e4 still bad for us if we take with the knight? I think our knight ends up getting chased off and Curtains ends up with a pawn in the center.

Not an expert here by any means, but I like a5 and I really don't like cxd5. If we play cxd5 Curtains will play Nc3 and the only move we have then is Be6, which puts us in a really cramped position. Much better IMO is

6. ...a5
7. Nc3 Bb5

Will

I think he moves:

7. Bg5

to pin our knight and cut off one of the attackers of d5.

If we instead move:

6. ... Nxd5

he's not going to exchange with Bxd5 and give us two bishops in an open position. If he follows with:

7. Nc3

we can exchange

7. ... Nxc3
8. Qxd8+ Kxd8
9. bxc3

and then he has an isolated c pawn

We can move Nb4 and threaten Nc2, forking the K and R.

eh, don't outthink yourselves. imo, cxd5 is the only move right now. pick that pawn back up so we're even in material. this will also allow us to play Nc6 which will develop a piece and force curtains to retreat the Q and allow us to develop another piece after

I have a friend who is like 2000, is he allowed to ocasionally help?

Ok my line is the following( this is totally home made, i just moved some pieces around on my magnet board)

I dont like cxd5 because it leaves us with an isolated pawn

6...nxd5...curtains go Nc3

6.....Qxd5 7. Qxd5/ Nxd5 8. e4/ Nf6 9. Nc3/ Be6.

6....Qxd5 ..if he moves a piece other than the queen we exchange.( although this isnt too good because it leaves less space for a tactical shot)
If he moves the queen somewhere else we can do Qa5+ and then Qb6 or maybe just Qb5.

how about...

6...Nxd5
7. Bxd5 cxd5
8. Nf3 Be6

As mentioned already by pudly, 7.Bxd5 probably won't be played.
