Default Re: In all seriousness, what are you looking for in a woman?

This bit of Suzanne Vega's "The queen and the soldier" has always struck me as true in some way:

And he said, "I want to live as an honest man
To get all I deserve and to give all I can
And to love a young woman who I don't understand"

All that said...I've been with women who fulfill all those traits, and sometimes it still doesn't work. There has to be a spark, and no matter how much you try, you can't make yourself be in love with someone.

Very good point Runkmud.

If I knew what I was looking for in a woman, I bet I'd have already found her. Here's to continued failed relationships!

I’m into anything healthy and fertile. Who I end up with is subject to time and work constraints.

Let x = health, y = fertility, t = time, j = work, q = quality.

Q = x + y.

The person I am looking for is = (x +y / t*j).

This is not a bullchit reply. You can predict how healthy and fertile my girl is, for any given period of finite time span, just from this equation. I got this down to a science.

Interesting topic/thread as it appears that they're are so many different preferences (well, actually, maybe just 2 schools of thought - the "I need a smart girl", which to me reads as "equal", versus the "I need a subservient girl". I guess the two - smart/subservient - aren't mutually exclusive, but for purposes of this thread, they appear to be).

I think, however, that as others have pointed out there is a wide gap between Ideals and Actuality. Yes, we all expect to be with our perfect partners, and I'm still optimistic that one day I'll get there, but it's a pretty rough road along the way when you spark/connect with someone who, in the end, does not match up with your most basic needs. (Degen & others who go for the subservience thing - what happens when you meet a smart, challenging chick who doesn't want to cook your meal but would rather hire a cook? But, you're still damn attracted to her? Or has that not ever happened? Just curious...)

Also, as a girl, I couldn't imagine being with a guy who doesn't want me to be an equal... But, I really find no problem with guys wanting that - I'm just simply not going to date them. If they find a girl who's into it - more power to 'em. I'm all for healthy, 2-person consesual, relationships, in whatever shape/form they happen to take.
