[/ QUOTE ] No. YOU'RE absolutely kidding youself if you think a million years from now (assuming the species makes it that far) race itself will even exist. You mean to say "discrimination will always exist" |

Ishmael,
Reread. [ QUOTE ] People cannot be meat-eaters without participating in animal torture. [/ QUOTE ] Meat-eaters must participate in the killing of animals (directly or indirectly). This is NOT the same as saying that vegetarians do not participate in the killing of animals. Furthermore, I believe that others should be legally allowed to eat meat. You can call this a "right" if you choose. (My basis for this belief is not relevant now). Regarding cats, we live in an imperfect system and some sacrifices must be made. I choose the ones I'm willing to make, you choose the ones you're willing to make. I gather you think it acceptable to eat free-range chicken, cow, or pig but not dog or cat. I choose to not eat flesh, but I will serve my flesh to my cats. It's a choice I make because the alternatives are unacceptable to me. Someday, we may not have to make this choice. There is an article in Vegetarian Times about "growing meat." The article is called "Meat without Murder" and it's on page 78 of the July/August issue. In the Netherlands they have figured out how to produce meat without any killing (thus proving my above point wrong, heh). They grow it like stem cells sort of, and make it in petri dishes. They can take the donor cells without harming or killing the donor animal, too! Right now the technology costs about $5000 per pound of meat, but it CAN be done and it is being researched further to reduce the cost. |
