durrrr, what is wrong in asking for an investigation? I assume that Stars won't seize his account unless they find proof that he entered tournaments with multiple accounts.

I agree that we shouldnt have a witch hunt mentality and assume everyone is guilty without sufficient proof. But at the same time, it is clear that much more security is needed and many investigations are needed to find out what is going on.

It needs to reach the point where it is more profitable for people to play poker well than to rist cheating.

So I don't agree with your disapproval of the investigation request, but I do think it is worthwhile to point out to everyone that let's not jump to conclusions and make assumptions until looking at the evidence. (Since we won't get access to the evidence, we have to trust the online sites investigation teams are getting it right -- which seems reasonable as they seem to have gotten it right so far whenever they initiated an investigation.)

I wonder if Stars waited to make the ZJ announcement until they were close to begin with the $530 out of fear that they would get stucked with the 1M guaranteed if players stayed away?

William,

Your paranoia is quite laughable. You just throw out conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory that are typically quite over the top. That said, please continue stirring pot so we can reach 3k!

This post has devolved into a battle of the drama queens. Fn ridiculous. Newsflash: There are risks associated with playing unregulated online poker. Get a fn grip.

I don't understand why Stars has been singled out this way anyways. Whatever system Party has in place to detect this kind of thing obviously doesn't get the job done as well, but everyone was congratulatory towards Party at the beginning of the thread. Is is just because we've come to expect so much more from PS suuport that we are disappointed when they happen to do the same thing we applaud Party for? I just don't understand it.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm disappointed with Stars for two reasons:
1) Party acted first and Stars appeared to merely react to Party's lead
2) Stars only confiscated money ZJ won "illicitly," whereas Party took everything in ZJ's account. Party took a bold stance against cheating and Stars has done about the minimum possible so that they don't appear to be totally incompetent.

And yes, we expect more out of Lee than the nameless, faceless entity that is Party. Lee has let us down in this matter.

Was it said somewhere how much Stars took? If he multiaccounted the big tourney, that'd be 137k right there, surely he doesn't have anything near that sitting in his account.

But it is impossible to prevent someone from having multiple computers / multiple internet connections. This is probably a problem that isn't going away.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yep definitely. VMWare/VirtualPC etc will always be problems too. The problem won't ever go away, but it certainly can be made a lot harder to do.

lol, zeejustin's post on 1/18/06

The VAST majority of my opponents, heads up or otherwise, are completely anonymous to me. Most big name pros out there prefer to remain anonymous. I do too actually. Very few people know my online handles other than "ZeeJustin".

[/ QUOTE ]

I guess its more than a "few" people now. I wonder who those "few" people are.
